Screen is off sometimes when charging car

Sometimes when charging the car the screen is on and shows the number of hours left to charge and at other times the screen is off.

Is this a bug or user error?

Neither. No need for the screen to stay on for hours while the car is just sitting there charging. If you’re out of the car, open a door and the screen will come on. If you’re sitting in the car, just tap the screen.

Should follow the car locking. When my car locks, the screen goes out immediately or shortly thereafter. Open the door (or get close enough in the case of an S or X) and it ‘relights’.

I noticed in another 3. The charging screen remains on although the driver has been gone for over 30 mins.

For my car, it shuts off shortly after I leave. Like 1 min or less. It only stays on when someone is in the car including the passenger side.

I think maybe a seat sensor or door sensor is bad and it thinks the driver is still there

There are a number of situations that will result in the screen staying on. It's not a malfunction.
