September 2021 Order Delivery Dates

Just wanted to share my experience again, love this forum and the updates (kept me sane through the waiting process).

Today I received my VIN for a 2022 MYP after my original order on 9/8/2021. Was an odd experience, so as many others here have advised, here's how it went.

Order: 9/8/2021 (was a MYLR White/White 7 seats no tow no FSD)
Financing was instant approval (they seem to use FICO 8 from Equifax for me through Tesla Financial which is actually using Wells Fargo). Score on the Wells Fargo paper that was sent was an 812 (wanted to give the reference point, as I was always wondering if I would qualify or not... had a repo in my early 20's that still has me shell shocked I guess).

EDD arrived within 24 hours and went as follows...

11/16 - 12/14
11/26 - 12/24 (about 3 weeks after order)
1/16 - 2/13 (about 1 week after last change)
JUNE (changed first week of Nov)

After seeing JUNE, I knew my life wouldn't let me wait for a car that long (I should say wife, as we have been a single car household for a few months)...

I called Tesla customer support and after a conversation, decided to move my order to a MYP (price again wasn't the biggest issue)... Tesla advisor stated that the MYP was a higher priced trim, which is ofter prioritized over lower cost trims. He simply made the switch while I was at my computer, I reconfigured my Tesla, I optioned it for CASH instead of LOAN and confirmed that I could change it back to LOAN when I got my VIN.

Change to MYP happend on 11/5 (Friday)
EDD was given to me by Friday evening of 11/16 - 12/2
Sunday, EDD changed to 11/23 - 12/2
On 11/8 (Today) I got my VIN, with a delivery window of 11/23 - 11/27.

I contacted Tesla back, and they quickly sorted my profile to financing, went into account, chose payment, was approved instantly.

Contacted insurance, uploaded policy.

Now im just waiting for a few weeks, they advised my car was a 2022, 7SAYG VIN.

Something of note, when you log into TESLA website and click on your account, previous to today my model Y simply said "Tesla Model Y" on my dashboard. Today it switched to say "2022 Tesla Model Y". Vin can also be seen in App when you get it.

Insurance cost is through State Farm for a mid 30's male driver with no accidents/tickets and drive/save @ $780 for 6 months.

Will update one last time with picture and name!

Again, this board and forum is amazing!! Thank you everyone for the feedback and stories about Tesla experiences!!

Edit: no, I dont care at all about the tax credit... my wife may put me in the bin if I dont get a car before the holidays start... In the words of that sloth from Ice Age... "I Choose Life"....
I think Tesla's strategy of using delay to push customer's into higher priced product is working well. In my line of business, we do something similar. Red carpet for the more expensive product, no availability for the lower cost product. One can do that only when demand exceeds supply. Telsa can do that for at least 2 more years and keep growing profits at a very high rate. I will be taking my Tesla stock profit and booking my long term capital gains in 2023. That is the year when mass production will get started with cheaper options. I think Hyundai is going to manufacture EV's in US and Ford and others too will be pumping out EVs.
I think its an odd experience as well... not to add insult to injury here... but.... If the tax rebate becomes a thing, there is nothing stopping you from flipping the MYP and buying another that qualifies... with current inflation, it may actually end up in your favor (minus taxes for making money off of a vehicle)...

Just thoughts and im sure there are some holes, but not taking delivery in December when lead times on an MYP are a few months just doesn't make sense...
It makes much sense for those receiving MYP deliveries in December to put it on hold for a month and take delivery in January.

anyone familiar with how EDD changes after end of quarter delivery pushes especially at end of the year? my EDD is Jan 15th-Feb12th. Wondering if things change substantially after end of quarter push. Id imagine so

Updated EDD... For the better IMO. To hopefully qualify for the tax credit.

Model Y LR, White/White, 5 seats, 19" wheel, with tow hitch..

Location: Fremont
Order Date: 9/12
Profile Completed Date: 9/13

9/13-22: 12/21-1/4 EDD
9/22-10/14: No EDD
10/15: 12/17-12/31 EDD
10/19: 1/12/22 - 2/9/22
Sheesh, EDD just moved up. It was 12/29 - 12/31 for about two week now. Now my EDD is showing November 12 - November 22. Thinking this is due to people holding orders for tax credit?

Do we even know if EV credit is going through? Seems like it may never be finalized!
Wish I knew that answer :)

If it comes in, let them know you are traveling for the holidays and can pick it up in Jan :)
Thats the plan. looking at other posts looks like once you get a VIN, you can put your order on hold for 30 days and it does not put your order back in line. Hopefully that VIN and 30 days doesn't Come before end of the year. :)

Well, if they give a 12/25 - 1/31 delivery date, what do they expect. Its vacation time for most.
They expect you to pick up the car. There are numerous threads on here about people being given a delivery date and not being able to make it there to pick up the car. Tesla then reassigns the VIN and puts you back in the cue. Now you may get back in with preference, but they are not going to hold cars at the end of the quarter so you can pick up up in Q1 and mess with their delivery numbers.

EDD Roller Coaster strikes again. First narrowed range for me: November 23 to December 3.
Congratulations. I do hope it holds up for you. Mine has remained steady for some time now. I do think first half September OD's will get delivery in second half of December. With the continued increase in inflation, I see very low chance of the BBB bill getting passed. Manchin been saying inflation is a problem. After today's 30 year high inflation increase, it would be foolish to do any large spending until inflation slows down. As of today all wage increases have been lost to inflation.

Congratulations for a MYLR 9/13 OD! The fact you live in Freemont may be a special good neighbor gift from Tesla Freemont ;)
In these here parts of the Bay Area in the great state of California we say Fremont with the one ‘e’ after the great explorer John C Fremont, military governor here in 1847. He attached his name to half the state during his conquests here.
