Side lights while turning

Just noticed this evening that when I make a left/right turn in my 2012 P85, a light turns on by the headlight illuminating the left/right slightly. Am I just imagining or was that a feature?

Yes, it’s a thing. Can’t remember exactly what they called it, something like “adaptive cornering lights” or similar.

It was part of the premium upgrades package in 2016 when I bought my car.

How did the headlight changed on the car from 2012 if this was not there before? Did you had your front fog lights recently serviced?

No. nothing recently serviced on the front fog lights.

Must have become standard for the S and X at some point. My non-premium Aug 2017 has them. Useful when turning into a dark driveway.

How would that be possible if there is no hardware change? I thought that the more advanced fog lights had the cornering functionality included in the Tech package with (LED fog light) included automatic high beams. @NV Ray how does headlight look like, is it similar to the avatar photo that I have?
The car I have has no Tech Package (but some individual functions/gadgets does exists) and I was late with my upgrade of the front fog lights as Tesla is no longer willing to upgrade. There actually does exists service bulletin for this exact need…

Here's mine. I do have the Tech Pkg on my 2012.

2022+ refresh lights don't have it. Then again, the lights are so much better it makes sense to simplify the headlight.

Sure enough we now know that the OP car has the Tech Package LED fog lights that does have this cornering functions, not the head light though.
