Squeaky Windows...

I have this issue too involving the final 1" when the windows shifts up once door is closed. I'm going to purchase this WD-40 product with the yellow cap cited above.

My front windows have tint as well. @mattack4000 I assume since you also have tint that it is safe to use on tint, particularly the edges of the glass on top where it will likely need to be applied?.

Yes, been on for 6 months, no squeeks. The regular WD-40 is water based, not going to last. You need the new WD40 silicone stuff. You don't need a lot. You just need to wet a paper towel and go along the tint line, top half an inch of the window and go inside the seals. It took 2 minutes to do. The yellow silicone WD-40 is great

Followup report: after applying I have had no squeaks for 3 days. Yay!
I just applied a coating of WD-40 Speciality on my X front door seals at the top where the glass rubs against the seal. Will post again with results.

Note: I have a 70% tint on both my front side windows. I’m wondering if in some cases the tint interacts with the door seal material to produce the squeak noise. It seems clear that the vast majority of X vehicles don’t have the squeak noise or they would be many more posts about it. But at no point in any of my 4 visits with Tesla Service about this issue was any mention made of window tinting being a possible cause.

Hi Pacman00,

In post number 2 @vandacca recommended

It is $9.74 with free shipping from Amazon Prime.

It cured a horrible rubber squeak from the 1" the window travels to break the vacuum
when opening the door.

I put it on the rubber seals on all doors. It helps to prevent the windows freezing to the seals
in the winter.

This has worked amazing so far. I applied it to my front two window seals and all squeaking which was major has been eliminated.

I had the “squeak” too. I used Maguire’s liquid wax on all my windows. They’re so much easier to clean and they glide up and down. No more squeak!

This reminds me. I used NuFinish polish on my windshield to try and stop a noisy wiper and it worked. I only applied it where the wiper was skipping and making noise (passenger side bottom half) nice and quiet now.

Another data point... I had the window squeak as well and I ended up buying the Gummi Pflege Stift that was recommended by others in this thread and it worked like a charm! I liberally coated the door seal where it contacts the glass and let it dry overnight. Its been on for over a month now and the squeak hasn't returned. Thanks to those that recommended this product!

Both front windows on my one month old 2019 X started screeching when the window was closed for the last 2 inches, or when the door was closed and the window closed .

Applied one spray of WD-40 Specialist (Home Depot $5.97) to a paper towel, and rubbed the rubber gasket on the side and top of both windows.

Problem solved! Thanks for the suggestion!

Hey RSS-X,

Are you able to tell me which WD-40 Specialist you used? Also, are you able to provide pics of where you applied it?

Thanks!
