Strange "Referral Applied" window on my phone - What is this?

Yesterday I got this window that popped up on my phone. I grabbed a screenshot but cannot remember if I had accessed the Tesla app (I leave running all the time) or if I was somewhere else.

It says: (see screenshot)

Reyes's Referral Applied
Order a new Model 3 and receive:

• 3 months Full Self-Driving Capability

I did post my referral code on Facebook a few months ago. Do not know a Reyes but it was posted as Public so I guess could be someone I do not know. I checked my Tesla account and do not see anything about any credit being applied. Maybe it is a scam but there was nothing on the window to click so that does not seem likely. Anyone know what this could be?

Maybe just a Tesla promotion.

If in doubt, try to kill it rather than click it.

Somewhere YOU clicked on Reyes's referral link, and when you go to Tesla.com ,it's telling you that.

Has nothing to do with your referral code being used by someone else.

Strange, but that makes sense. Not sure where I would have clicked that but that is probably what happened. Thanks

There are some unscrupulous sites out there that can silently add their referral cookies in the background without you even knowing it. It's called 'cookie stuffing' and I'm pretty sure it's illegal.
