Stuck on Trade-in Valuation

Right, I keep seeing people saying that is how it happened for them. It was stuck, then they spoke to someone and it magically went through. Problem is, I haven't been able to speak to a single person. I only ever get a voicemail saying something along the lines of everyone is assisting other customers right now and then the phone disconnects. So I've tried chat, and they are not helpful. I keep having this feeling that it is stuck right now, and I can't get anyone to unstick it.

I’m not sure if it will work for you. However do know this, if your car isn’t built now and a trade in does appear, if the trade quote goes pass 30 days or 1k miles they have to do it over anyway. So it doesn’t hurt you to just add it when they actually have a vin and you’re about to take delivery.

this is just my opinion of course.

Where is the information that states an accepted trade-in valuation offer is only valid for 30 days and/or 1,000 mi?

From the information I've seen, the trade-in valuation OFFER is valid for 30 days. Once I hit the ACCEPT button for their offer, that creates a binding contract. I have not seen any further conditions pursuant to the trade and if they delay delivery beyond 30 days, that should not impact the agreement and I would also expect a reasonable mileage allowance based upon prior usage. (miles in offer/# months owned)

I filled out my valuation last week, but nothing changed. I had some concern with car's rust, so requested call-back. After 2 days nobody called me , so I submitted the photos as requested (the rust insn't on the outside where the photos are shown). So today I logged in and i see that they valuated the car (which is ok for a rusty one). However, i don't want to get surprised and have them not accept it due to rust at delivery, so I requested to speak with delivery specialist. Because I still have other options like carvana or carmax (if its still open), or even donate it. The problem is though that with businesses shutting down in the area, this is pretty hard to do now. In any case, i got no notification that my trade-in submission was accepted, but there it was.

Update:
I just chatted with another Tesla employee after my call didn't get picked up again. Here is my chat log. Suddenly they just tell me I have a VIN and are waiting on my insurance??? Well we will see if I actually do get a call from the delivery team.

Thee trade in information we need for now is good, we have the VIN and type of vehicle, you will complete trade in during acquisition so I would not worry aout it

However, we are still missing your proof of insurance

You will need to upload that on your Tesla account and fill out the requested information!

Are you sure about that? On my order screen it still says "Trade-In Valuation in Progress" and I don't see anything about insurance or a VIN. Reservation number xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yes we would need the proof of insurance so we can deliver the car to you

How do I provide that? I have no VIN
Zan

Ryan

Zan

On the app you should be able to see fields requiring completion under your vehicle order

My account page still just shows "prepare for delivery". Then has 4 sections under that: Delivery location, Registration, Trade-in, and Payment Method. All have black check marks EXCEPT "Trade-in".

So today I did finally get my trade in value. I happened to chat with Tesla again at Noon and the person today on the online chat said that they would reach out to the advisor associated with the account and I would hear back from that person. Well, that person never called, but I got the trade in offer via e-mail a few hours later and was then able to go into my account, upload my title and accept the offer. My page has now changed to upload proof of insurance (Which i have done as I am in Maryland where I can without a VIN) and it says they are drafting contract. My pestering them may or may not have had anything to do with the trade in offer finally coming through, will never know I suppose.

For what it's worth, i then went to Carmax and they were 6K less on the trade for my BMW X3. They said that the market for luxury cars was really weak right now. I happily walked out with my appraisal and accepted the Tesla offer. Now I just hope somehow I get the car before the offer expires (or they honor it even if it takes longer to get the car, but nothing I can do about that step).

I can't access anything in the Tesla App at this point. Just a referral code and link to tutorial videos.

Big update here though guys: I got a hold of a Sales person in Vegas who was finally able to push things through. It was a little bumpy (off course). He contacted his manager, and then a couple hours later I got a text saying " your trade-in milestone has been reopened for you to change your trade-in." I said, wait a minute I don't want to change anything I just want you to check it... But sure enough, I refreshed the page and it was all gone, allowing me to resubmit my trade in info... Sigh. I got no response from the text employee, so I just resubmitted. It didn't ask me for photos this time though. After messaging the person 3 times without response, I called back the Vegas sales guy. He didn't pick up so I left a voicemail. I called him again in an hour, and got through. He then finally was able to get it all sorted out. Right there on the spot, I refreshed and had a final offer to accept.

It was low, but I think fair/decent enough to not waste my time with a private sale. So I accepted. I'm onto the next phase! Submit proof of Insurance. I have to wait for my VIN for that though right?

WTH! That is what I ordered, but with FSD, same day as you. They must be not delivering in IL anymore since it locked down, assuming MD is not locked down yet?

Hah, funny coincidence. To be clear I have no idea when I’ll be getting my car....just at the contract drafting now until I get contacted about a delivery date I won’t be getting my hopes up too high....

I got an email from my local delivery center this morning saying they are "On board with the governors decision to suspend non essential business". I find it odd that i got that email today suddenly after having completed my trade offer yesterday, when the delivery center has been closed since last week. In any case, I contacted the rep on the email and asked him if me not signing my title would cause any delay, and also if they were participating in touchless delivery. He said that I shouldn't sign my title until the delivery takes place, and that touchless delivery "is not on their radar" at that location. He then directed me to send him a copy of my current proof of insurance. I clarified and asked if he meant proof of insurance for the Tesla which I don't have a vin for yet, or my current vehicles proof of insurance. He said current vehicle. So I sent him over that, and it looks like he uploaded it to my tesla account. That seems odd. Wouldn't Tesla need proof of insurance for the Tesla before then deliver it? Why would they want my current vehicles proof of insurance when it wont be the same vehicle, policy, or even insurance agency providing insurance for my Tesla?

But anyway, that's my latest update. On the drafting contract phase with nothing visible left for me to accept or submit.

I'm in same situation for a AWD not performance no FSD and 7 seats. I know every thing says 7 seats 2021 but every time my account updates I have provided information in hopes everything might go through. So far trade accepted. Loan approved and current insurance uploaded. I will note that yesterday the address that I assume now is delivery address changed from my home address to the local service center. Probably means nothing but here is hoping!
