Supercharger - Destin, FL - US-98

Steve (user lokens) over on Supercharge.info forums sent in permit info for a Supercharger install at the Winn-Dixie in Destin! Here is the link to the permit on the City of Destin website and below is a screenshot. I've added the site to Supercharge.info. Steve mentioned that he is a Tesla owner who lives in Destin, so he will be able to provide regular updates! Thanks, Steve!

This is brilliant. A friend of mine has a condo in the Destin area and it's a bit tricky to visit for a long time since the nearest supercharger is in Crestview. Yes, they have some slower third-party chargers but those are very hit or miss and much slower than supercharging and their aren't many hotels with destination chargers near the condo yet. So, once active, this should make visiting in the Tesla a lot more worry free.

The permit was issued on March 6th. Does anyone have a feel for what kind of timetable Tesla usually has with a Supercharger site, once electrical permit is issued?

Sorry, nothing yet. As of April 16;2023 there is no sign of construction activity anywhere in the Winn-Dixie area. I will stop by at least once a week and let you all know when I see something.

No signs of activity to report. Looked around the Winn-Dixie parking lot. No flags, no surveyor stakes, no utility paint marks.

May 15…still no sign of construction starting. Last week I tried contacting the electrical contractor on the permit, Rack Electric out of south Florida, to ask about a potential start date, but have not received any response yet.

FYI, there's also level 2 chargers at the Destin Commons. Between those and the Crestview supercharger (or DeFuniak or Gulf Breeze if you go those directions for something) it should be pretty manageable without an SC in Destin.

For sure. I topped off more than normal in Gulf Breeze to get me enough charge for the weekend without having to seek out Destination chargers. I stay on Holiday Isle so that Winn Dixie location is gonna feel like me personal stop when down there.

June 30…no activity. Tesla Find Us web page show “Target opening in 2024”. Something else I didn’t notice was this site was “Q1 2023 Supercharger Voting Winner”. They were fast to pull the permit but do not appear to be in a hurry to put in service.

Okaloosa County isn't showing any permit data I can find for this. Could be it's all falling under Destin, or could be something else going on. I searched by date, parcel, address, even searching for anything listed as being on 98 East - no joy.
