Supercharger - Naples, FL

I will be heading through there next week from Ft Myers. I'll stop by and see what I can see. Don't need it to get to Plantation, but it would be nice to top off.

Stopped by this morning and talked to the general contractor. He did not know when the Supercharger will be ready.

The following need to be completed:

Repair asphalt, seal coat, re-stripe, replace concrete bumpers with 4" rubber ones, FPL turn on power and then Tesla needs to provision.

I'll head back next week for an update.

This is dragging on much longer than anticipated....hopefully, they will complete this by end of "season"

Any idea why they ran overhead rather than underground? Given the price of copper I'd have thought that'd be less expensive than the extra 25' or so of cable.

We also stopped by today. Transformer and meter in place. No outlook on completion as previously stated. Overhead conduit unique to Supercharger installations I am aware of.

I notice that the Supercharger cabinets and the electrical switchgear are not inside an enclosure at this time. I don't recall seeing a Supercharger installation that wasn't enclosed. This could be an exception, but it is possible that an enclosure may be another item on the "punch list".

Initially, Tesla's plans called for their equipment to be located closer to the charging stalls in the grassy area. However, that put them inside the 25 foot building restriction line. To build there would have required public hearings and a waiver by the City Council. Prudently Tesla decided to relocate the equipment outside the building restriction line and avoided the necessity of arguing for a waiver of city regulations.

Since the Supercharger cabinets are now interior to the parking garage, one logical explanation is that it would be both disruptive and more expensive to rip up the concrete decking rather than attaching conduit to the structure.

Thanks Larry. Typically ripping up a bit of asphalt isn't too expensive. Maybe different here. On second thought as well, entry on the cabinets and to connections may also be fairly high so no length difference on the cabinet end.

Does anyone know if there is a fee to park at this parking lot? if so, what are the charges?

There is no parking fee but it is usually packed during season.

The General Contractor told me it will not be enclosed. I asked him. Also the wood between the Supercharger cabinets and yellow Bollard posts is to be removed and steel installed. This does not need to be finished before the Supercharger is operational.

Based on other installations that I have viewed, the Supercharger cabinets and the electrical switchgear have the option of connecting either at the bottom or top.

Turkey Lake service plaza near Orlando also does not have an enclosure ... They are just in the loading dock area near the supercharger stalls.
