I’m starting this thread in the hope that Tesla owners in the Redding area will start looking around for signs of construction in their city. Redding is on Tesla’s “Find Us” page as “Target opening by end of 2018”. It is even possible that a permit has been given and construction started but we just don’t know about it yet. It’s happened before, so start poking around fellow Tesla owners!

Guessing here...(In my checkered past I lived eight miles west of Cottonwood and worked in Redding.)

The Best Western on Hilltop Drive already has two HPWC and two Sun Country J1772 plugs on the south side. This motel has ample parking in the rear for a nice 8-12 stall set up.

The Red Lion also on Hilltop Drive has a couple of HPWC and one J1772. I am not certain as to the capacity of its parking lot.

There is a smattering of restaurants on Hilltop--including the one at the Best Western.

There are a couple of other motels north of town between the exit for SR299 to Alturas and the North Market St. exit.

Downtown Redding and west on Eureka Way would be impractical in my opinion. There is not a lot of open space, and the access to and from Interstate 5 is tricky.

South of town has a couple of possibilities along SR273 (nee US99) but is a short drive off the interstate. Also there is a Hilton Garden Inn just off Interstate 5 at Bonnyview Road.

The Safeway parking lot on Cypress and Churn Creek would be good but I haven't heard of any superchargers going in at Safeways.

Another decent spot would be anywhere near Churn Creek and Dana Drive. Not the easiest on/off, but there are tons of restaurants and some shopping around there. Probably no room for a supercharger right near that intersection, but a little further away there would be, maybe at the Target.

Then of course there are the many hotel options (previously mentioned). Neither the Black Bear Diner or the casino are well situated.

I'm installing a Tesla wall charger, so have recently spoken with both REU and the Redding City Building Permit office. Neither seem to know about any SuperCharger permits being issued.
Just came back from Arcata to Redding via 299.. really could have used the Suc in Redding. I spent almost two hours at a level 2 7kw charger to get me to Corning SuC so I could get home.. yuck!
Mostly my fault, but we hit really bad weather and wind over the pass. Should have hyper miled..

There is a relatively new ChargePoint Express 200 charger at the Target store in Redding. If you had a CHAdeMO adapter you could have saved a lot of time.

I can only get from 'The Bay Area' to Corning on hwy 36 . wouldn't dare try 299!

I wouldn't hesitate to take 299 in an S100D, but yeah it would be tight in an 85. I took 36 on my first Tesla road trip back in 2016 and it was a little "adventurous" for my taste in a brand new 100k car lol. That being said, I don't think the poster was interested in driving all the way out to the coast, rather just going to Whiskeytown and the Dam.

Any Update on this forum? Planning to visit Redding and it would be nice to have a Supercharger local so we can go explore Whiskeytown and Shasta Dam areas without worrying about getting back to Corning.
I poked around in hotel parking lots, Target parking lots and other likely locations about a month ago and didn't see any signs of anything in Redding.
