PG&E on site today, looks like they are doing an inspection. Parking spaces painted as well.

Things are moving quickly ... PG&E started cutting the pavement to get power to the superchargers. I don't see the transformer at the site yet. I talked to the Volition guy, who said that it may be a couple months to get the V4 pedestals, saying there was some sort of design issue (for which I can't find info).

We did our after lunch walk around the site today and were surprised by the large green box! I understood that PG&E didn't install transformers until the project was nearly complete. Perhaps we'll see some V4 pedestals soon. I suspect that plastic covered extension is a conduit that will connect to the side of the transformer box.

Does anyone know the details of how PG&E connects the Tesla switchgear cabinet to the Transformer?

In the second picture that k2drbar posted on the 26th, you can see the side of the transformer near the plastic wrapped extension from the switchgear cabinet. There does not appear to be a hole in the side of the transformer, or anyway to connect the transformer to the switchgear cabinet.

However, in the photo I just uploaded there is a green box attached to the side of the transformer. Does PG&E just cut a hole in the side of the transformer wherever they need it?

It’s called a bus duct entrance termination unit and it’s used on larger transformers like this one which in this case supplies power to the 4000 A service used by Tesla. It’s just for a direct transition to Tesla’s bus duct from the transformer. It makes it much easier for a transformer upgrade later or if there was ever a need to change out the transformer: there won’t be a need to disrupt the existing bus duct installation.
