[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Tesla announced Monday at its Autonomy Investor Day in Palo Alto, California that all of its vehicles are shipping with its homegrown computer chip to enable full self-driving.

Chief Executive Elon Musk said the Full Self Driving Chip has been installed in all new Model S and Model X vehicles for more than a month now, and Model 3 builds started receiving the chip less than two weeks ago.

During the presentation, Pete Bannon, Tesla’s head of Autopilot hardware, gave a highly-technical overview of the new chip and its capabilities. The Samsung-built chip is 260 square millimeters in size and contains 6 billion transistors.

Tesla claims the chip has 21-times the performance of the previous Tesla hardware powered by Nvidia.

The company also emphasized that the chip is purpose-built for enabling vehicle autonomy. Tesla’s Full Self Driving Computer contains two of the new chips for redundancy. Both chips compare the plan, validate it and put into action.

“The probability of this computer failing is substantially lower than someone losing consciousness,” Musk said.

Musk also said that Tesla feels its is halfway through development of the next generation of the chip, which will be three times better than the current version. He expects it to be ready in two years.

The FSD Computer doesn't matter much til the software is ready.
All the usual Tesla haters will no doubt focus on this upgrade to undermine customer relations.
Why? Stock manipulation (volatility of course - every trade earns money for Wall St. Banksters).

Big Oil, Big Auto obviously have NO interest in these developments and will only help to bring about as rapid of a change as possible, because everyone really likes change. They all only want a better future just like the Tesla teams. Right??:rolleyes::eek: </sarcasm>
