i think we have to take following into consideration. california owners aren't as inclined to get LR (i.e. about 50/50 LR/some config that's not available). outside of california, more owners went for LR for various reasons. i.e. if you sent invite on 4-jan to 5k people and 4k said they want LR, you won't have to send out invites next 2 weeks.I've worked at manufacturing companies in the past, seems likely it's due to all the days people get off over Xmas & New Years.
Battery
Standard Battery (Standard) 1788/4872 (36.7%)
Long Range Battery (Optional) 3084/4872 (63.3%)
Standard Battery (Standard) 420/1264 (33.2%)
Long Range Battery (Optional) 844/1264 (66.8%)

The LR vs Standard breakdown seems very similar when checking the data at Model3Tracker. For all of the United States:
Code:Battery Standard Battery (Standard) 1788/4872 (36.7%) Long Range Battery (Optional) 3084/4872 (63.3%)
for just CA:
Code:Standard Battery (Standard) 420/1264 (33.2%) Long Range Battery (Optional) 844/1264 (66.8%)
one of the polls i've seen was something like >50% of owners opted to wait and not get first production (its not really LR vs SR but first production vs something else which comes later).Do you mean that customers in California are more likely to wait for the standard battery? Is this what the reservation / order data are showing? If so, that's great news for those of us in CA who want the long range battery!

RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) (Standard) 2427/6107 (39.7%)
AWD (All Wheel Drive) (Optional) 3680/6107 (60.3%)
RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) (Standard) 813/1543 (52.7%)
AWD (All Wheel Drive) (Optional) 730/1543 (47.3%)
Looking at all options the percents are very close with the exception of RWD vs AWD.
United States as a whole:
Code:RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) (Standard) 2427/6107 (39.7%) AWD (All Wheel Drive) (Optional) 3680/6107 (60.3%)
CA only
Code:RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) (Standard) 813/1543 (52.7%) AWD (All Wheel Drive) (Optional) 730/1543 (47.3%)
Based on that it seems that CA leans more towards First Production than the rest of the country.
No Premium Upgrades Package (Standard) 2007/4849 (41.4%)

It’s disappointing. Was expecting to see notices of new invites yesterday or today but haven’t seen anything on TMC or Twitter.
You would think if they are really producing 1000 per week, invites would need to go out.
This is the anxiety stageI thought the last 21 months or so were a hard wait. Turns out the time between configuring and taking delivery is much harder

They did up sell . I initially had my mind set for LR without PUP instead of first production. In my mind that makes a lot of sense and might be a really smart way of Tesla to manage the long queue of people wanting to buy: I believe we will have a situation by the end of this year where pretty much everyone in the US who has ordered more than 6 months ago will get an invitation to configure / deliver: The configuration of LR+PUP+RWD is very smart with regards to margins / production complexity while it keeps those who want "the best of the best" waiting (AWD, P-Variant) as well as the "base model is good for me" (SR, no PUP). By keeping the interior to one, it also keeps everyone who insists on white interior waiting.
This way, they should manage the scalping issue pretty well, offering a model for those who can't wait while pushing a large number of deliveries into the future. And, who knows - maybe they up-sell a few who wanted SR and/or sell a second car to those waiting for the performance version down the road... At the same time, it kills all kinds of "see Tesla can't deliver any cars" arguments as many people will have a chance to order if they are happy with LR+PUP and limited options. It also is a way to survive the first "don't buy the first car out of the factory" vs the "it's new, it's shiny, I need to have it now!!" issue.
Having said all this: Hey Tesla, where is my car?? I want it now!! ;-)
