    Generation 1 Gateway

I have a generation 1 gateway that I no longer need. Not sure if anyone could benefit from it. PM me.

Honolulu SC just completed my MCU2 Upgrade

I had dash cam already, although 2020.8.1 broke it, (still broken in 2020.8.2 and 2020.12.1) -- seems like this was a firmware bug according to others with the same spec as me. AP 2.5, MCU1, FSD upgrade software, but no HW3. But, I appreciate the tip. Will bring a fresh drive with me.

Honolulu SC just completed my MCU2 Upgrade

My 2018 MS, AP2.5, MCU1 (missed MCU2 by 2 weeks) is getting the MCU2 upgrade and FSD HW3.0 upgrade as we speak. I think the only reason I pulled the trigger on this is because of my Model 3. The responsiveness of the UI is so much better. It's obvious that the latest development is focused on...

Referral | Founder Series Powerwall 2

I still reported it on my taxes, and took the 30% ITC for the value + extra installation fees I had to pay (yes, it's tied to solar)

Referral | Founder Series Powerwall 2

My powerwalls were installed in June of 2019. I never got a 1099-MISC, and I even reached out to Tesla to ask about them. No response.

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

When was the last time a gun manufacturer was mentioned as being partially at fault when there is a shooting incident? I just don't understand why Tesla or Apple are even mentioned in the NTSB report. Contributing factors? Okay...maybe, but this all rests on the driver. He made the choice to...

Telsa really doesn't want people to come to their service center for service

Troubling for sure, but not the norm (based on my experiences). One thought...with all the legal wrestling in Virginia between the Virginia Auto Dealer Association and Tesla not being allowed to open stores, etc. perhaps Tesla is trying to sidestep a legal hurdle by removing human interaction...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

UV fix was applied yesterday and the screen looks as good as new. We'll see if it holds up. Fingers crossed.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

In addition to a few other issues, my driver's side headlight assembly was replaced yesterday. Picked up car today....but the new driver's side signature light (eyebrow) has a distinctly different hue to it. It looks slightly yellow as compared to the bluish hue on the passenger side. They...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

FYI, the problem isn't specific to the subject vintage. Mine is an early 2018 model and it has had two headlights fall victim. :/

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

Tesla obviously is aware of this problem, which is why they developed the UV fix tool. I don't think it's getting any traction in the media because it is not a safety issue and it is not a performance issue. It is correctly characterized as a cosmetic issue, IMHO. With that said, it IS a...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

Quick question...that may have been answered in the past 63 pages. Hope not. I'm going in for UV treatment next week. I have an Abstract Ocean cling-style screen protector on my screen. I'm wondering if the UV treatment would be less effective with it in place. It is the HD clear variety.

    Inherent Diminished Value Settlement (Oregon)

My case resolved by settlement. Allstate didn't want it to go to court...as my attorney's fees would keep growing the longer this process went on. They recognized that they were screwed because they made no offer to me within the 30 day window. My attorney explained all of this to them and...

    Inherent Diminished Value Settlement (Oregon)

    Inherent Diminished Value Settlement (Oregon)

DV is always a matter of opinion. My appraiser said my DV was $15000. Our demand was for $10,000 so we could get attorney fees too. The final DV was reached as part of a settlement. Attorney fees would have grown had it gone to court and Allstate would have ended up paying much, much more. They...

    Inherent Diminished Value Settlement (Oregon)

I was under the same impression as you. I assumed that USAA would handle everything. I asked them to reimburse for gas costs and they said that isn’t something they will reimburse, and I needed to pursue with the liable insurance company. As far as the DV, your insurance will not pay for DV...

    Inherent Diminished Value Settlement (Oregon)

I used TCT Wraps in Hillsboro. Owner is a Tesla owner and super good guy. He has done all of my Tesla’s. Good luck with your repair. Trey is great and they didn’t do a bad job...I’m just really picky. :)

    Inherent Diminished Value Settlement (Oregon)

There was no structural damage. Impact was at 20mph. Items replaced: Bumper cover Rear hatch Rear valance (under bumper) Lights Trim pieces What made the costs higher was that the car had to be re-PPF, and ceramic coated for the painted panels. I do think my settlement was fair and reasonable.

    Inherent Diminished Value Settlement (Oregon)

My car was legally drivable in an unrepaired state. My insurance company provided the rental and it was later subrogated. Cost difference between initial estimate and final bill was < 5%. The insurance company did not hire or generate their own DV appraisal. I refused to let them inspect my...

    Inherent Diminished Value Settlement (Oregon)

TL;DR: Rear-ended. Car took 7 months to be repaired. Successful reimbursement for gas costs! Successful inherent diminished value claim settlement! Disclaimer: I’m not a lawyer, this is just my experience, YMMV. Last year, I was rear-ended in Portland, Oregon in my 2018 Tesla Model S. It had...

My grid outage frequency issue is resolved!

Got it...so, once the Powerwall can curtail properly by dynamically adjusting the frequency this would be possible with the iQ6 and newer enphase micro inverters. Very smart...saves ~10-15% efficiency loss in charging / discharging the PW. I'm actually right in the middle of my first simulated...

My grid outage frequency issue is resolved!

That appears to work just fine. However, when there is an outage, the house is powered by the powerwalls and the panels turn off. Once the powerwalls discharge to 97% (I think), they will re-enable the micro inverters / PV and re-charge the powerwalls from solar. This cycle continues while the...

My grid outage frequency issue is resolved!

    Powerwall Install - PowerFlow Incorrect

Installed on 6/11. Called support on 6/11. Elevated to tier 2 support on 6/12. Magically started working middle of the day on 6/13. I know they can assign/invert CTs at the mother ship. It looks like someone did that successfully. I'll keep a close eye on things .... well, forever. But it's...

    Powerwall Install - PowerFlow Incorrect

Thanks @NuShrike for the tip on PW + Solar in the Sense Solar CTs. I think I'm in a similar position as you are in that I think the wiring is such that my feeds for PW and Solar are in different physical locations in the routing. I'll see if I can do it though.

    Powerwall Install - PowerFlow Incorrect

I'm in a very similar situation as the OP. My powerwalls were installed on Tuesday. My power flow is completely wrong. Has been escalated to Tier 2 support as of yesterday. I'm waiting to hear back from them. Hoping that they can send someone out to debug the gateway CT placement, as it sounds...

My grid outage frequency issue is resolved!

This makes sense. I think I was misunderstanding how the frequency modified inverter output. Seems that should be the Powerwall's frequency output.

My grid outage frequency issue is resolved!

Okay. Hopefully having reps for PV system and Tesla on site during install will help get all the settings dialed in properly the first time.

My grid outage frequency issue is resolved!

I really hope that we can get this variable frequency (floating?) dialed in. I will have representatives for my solar installation company onsite shadowing the Tesla Powerwall installation. My understanding is that it's a setting on the enphase micro inverters that needs to be adjusted to manage...

My grid outage frequency issue is resolved!

I think all iQ Enphase inverters also have a setting that will allow them to be more analog in the event of a power outage. Instead of solar production being ON/OFF based entirely on the capacity of your powerwall and solar production. My understanding is that you can configure the enphase micro...

Model 3 clicking sound near the rear wheel area

VIN 5XXX LR RWD 18k miles. Clicking noise noticed last week. Portland service lubed and replaced (single-use) rear axle nuts. Sound is gone now. Was told that it will likely come back at some point. Warranty fix. Out of warranty cost will be about $60-$70. 1/2 hour labor and $10 parts. No...

    Configure Powerwalls To Ignore Solar?

Excellent thread. My 2 powerwalls are being installed on June 11-12, 2019. Right around the corner...can't wait. In Oregon, we get 1 for 1 credits for excess solar production. When combined with Time of Use rate plan, any excess solar is applied to excess on-peak consumption first, then...

Referral | Founder Series Powerwall 2

Based on the information I have found on the comment boards, I have asked Tesla to confirm the powerwall 2 installation credit policy and I was told that it is "up to $2000 depending on region" per installation. In the United States region, that means that we will only get $1000 per powerwall...

Referral | Founder Series Powerwall 2

I saw the images of your installation on another thread. Very cool stuff. Congrats. In Oregon, our utility gives credits at 1:1 for excess solar, so powerwall doesn't really add much value beyond having a battery backup for your home. Additionally, if you are on a TOU rate plan plus solar...
