That's what the rep told me over the phone as well. Maybe this is why they are expanding the Service Centre to a Store based on the job opening for store manager, owner advisor and product specialist.

I RSVPed to this event probably a week ago now and have yet to hear back. Maybe it's full?

Saw another Black MS with 19" wheels on Broadview Road yesterday turning on to 16 Street... starting to see a LOT of Teslas around here which is great!

Saw a red MS in the North East (40th Ave Eastbound on Sunday morning) around the old Centre Street church. Dang, they are some fine looking cars.

Not sure if I'll be an owner of an S or 3 for at least a few more years, but I thank all of you Roadster and S owners for supporting the EV market, enabling Tesla and the other manufacturers to drive down the prices.

it's probably common knowledge but they are indeed opening a Tesla store in Chinook mall.

Definitely not common knowledge... where in the mall would it go? It would have to be on the east side somewhere to get the visibility that is required. That probably rules out having Super Charger stations there then, eh?

I got the phone call about a month ago regarding the test drive event. I signed up as soon as it was posted on their website.

I doubt it will have superchargers at Chinook (it will always be ICED). At the Yorkdale mall in Toronto, they have HPWC at the underground stalls that are reserved for Tesla.

Was indeed me. beeerock was a pleasure to meet you and sounds like you had a successful trip, glad it worked out. Our trip out to Vancouver Island was awesome. Did 2500km with an average energy usage of 185wh/km over the 2 weeks. Not as efficient as our previous 60 but a lot more fun. How did you do with the 85D?
Heh, I thought the screen name you mentioned sounded close enough to 'Tomanik' to make the HUGE leap... there are so many of us owners in western Canada after all - Red Sig's narrow the field - LOL.

Great to meet you too and happy to hear your holiday went well. We made it as far as the Hat and spent most of our time in the High River area. Charging was challenging to say the least... 110 V at my uncle's place... and on the return trip from the Hat to High River I managed to average 155 Wh/km (got tired of loitering in the Best Buy across from the Peavey Mart charge station... ;-) so went for it with less reserve than I'd typically want). I kept the speed down, but it was warm and dark so the AC and headlights were on the whole way. Three people and all their gear. I was pretty happy with that.

The whole trip added up to about 2200 km and the power consumption for the entire trip was 167 Wh/km. That included several launches for relatives and their friends ,an hour of creeping in the 10 km traffic jam east of Lake Louise and some Calgary traffic. I suspect you got through that mess in the park a few minutes before it happened - looked like a Mercedes convertible burned to the ground on the side of the road - absolutely nothing left when we went by.

I don't know about "common knowledge"... I expected they were setting up a Tesla store in Calgary but didn't know where. Hopefully they will have some sweet Tesla prime parking I can use while shopping. I find myself really enjoying the perks of dedicated electric parking and frequent malls/stores that have this available for me. Parking at Chinook is difficult at best so Tesla only parking will be huge!

I was on the phone with the always lovely Robin Peterson at Tesla Vancouver this morning. While I expect that most of you have received her email about upcoming events -- including next weekend's test drives at the Hyatt, where seeking referral points is entirely okay -- I post her note here so everyone has access to the information:

Chinook Mall Location
Very soon, we will have a temporary location at Chinook Center Mall, to tide us over while the permanent Chinook Mall location is built. We need brilliant hard working staff who “get” Tesla! We are conducting batch interviews on Thursday August 27[SUP]th[/SUP] at the Hyatt Regency. If you know of any candidates, please have them apply asap: Tesla Calgary Online Applications
We will need online applications submitted before Monday August 24[SUP]th [/SUP] at the very latest, in order to schedule in time for Thursday’s interviews.

The temporary Tesla location at Chinook should open in early September, near the Starbucks under the escalator by the old Target entrance.

If anyone wants the rare Hot Wheels Model S toy, I have a couple of extras. Please let me know if you're interested. I'm not selling them, but you could pique my interest if you contribute to your favourite charity.

So with the formal announcement email from Tesla about the Chinook Mall store location, anyone find out if Superchargers also?
I'm not sure how formal it is yet, I only found out today through the email from Robin in Vancouver about the test drive event (sent to existing owners). At first it will be a temporary location at chinook until they build the real location at chinook. I'll ask more about it next time I talk to Robin but I'm guessing it will be like yorkdale, I.e. A few spots reserved in one of the parking areas. They will have to have some kind of parking and charging for the test drive vehicles at least. Not sure that they will have many extras though. Yorkdale looks like it's mostly just for test vehicles.

Yes, Yorkdale chargers are for demo cars only. What else is in the email from Robin?

Here is the email from Robin Peterson:

I chatted withy Robin just before the email went out. The temp location at Chinook will be by the Starbucks, near the entrance to what used to be Target. And, for next weekend, we're all welcome tocome on down, engage with interested folks, and try our hand at referrals.

(I tried to post all this yesterday, but apparently it didn't go through. Cheers, everyone.)

Owners in Alberta received an email with an announcement of a "temporary" Chinook Centre location while they construct the official location in the same mall. I expect a row of Tesla HPWC to be installed in the parkade with 4-5 stalls (often 1-3 for demo cars) including some visitor stalls. I saw this setup in Phoenix at the Tesla Store there.

Are there any Calgary meet up events planned around the TESLA drive event ?
Does anyone have any further details (formal or informal program ) about what's happening at the Hyatt ?
I might drive down from Edmonton if it's worth coming.

I'm going to be there on Friday. I think Tesla (Robin) are encouraging owners to come out to the Hyatt on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I haven't heard any more details yet. If there was a broader gathering on Saturday or Sunday I would show up. I'm not really sure how much parking will be available around the Hyatt or if Tesla has some area for owners yet but I will notify as I find out more. I'm also not sure if there will be any sort of an opening for the temporary Chinook location yet but I'll ask about that too.

Well, I'm kind of sad I will be missing the event this weekend.

On another note... with the exchange rate being as crazy as it is right now I'm starting to realize how great of a "deal" I got on my P85D! For one, I'm leasing and at the time they rolled in the winter wheels/tires and HPWC into the lease! The similar config now comes out to well over $27,000 more than what mine worked out to in October 2014. Maybe my resale value won't be crap after all :).

One of the reason's that the Ludicrous upgrade might almost be a no brainer for P85D owners in Canada.

I totally agree! CAD $ is falling and falling further according to most analysts polled. In retrospect purchasing in Dec 2014 was one of the best "investment" decisions :)

I too will be there Friday morning. I have no idea where to park though and am assuming there will be adequate signage. They did invite for the rest of the weekend as well but I won't be able to make it. See you there and any other owners/future owners!

I finally got a call late this afternoon from California - they said the event is at capacity so I suspect I was on a wait list. Thought it was a telemarketer call, so I answered rather casually, turns out it was Tesla to get my appointment set up!

Looking forward to seeing a few of you owners if possible. With the dollar where it is, I think purchasing at this time is not an option, but I will still be stoked to test drive and see what electric is all about.

The 30% dip in Canadian dollar sucks; I guess the silver lining is the Model 3 is still on track to late 2017 delivery and hopefully the performance/comfort is comparable to BMW 3 series as promised by Elon.
