Ah, the Roadster is only air cooled. They must've already figured out the liquid cooling for the rotor (in Model S?) a long time ago if they've got the patent already.

Interesting! That first patent relates to the remote communication with the battery thing, that just came to light as installed on the 2010 Roadsters. I guess we now know why they have not talked about the feature until recently; they were waiting for the patent application to publish!

It will be interesting to see if the patent is granted. This is a pretty fundamental feature for next gen autos.
