Good morning, Porsche.

Porsche Readies Global Taycan EV Recall to Fix Software Issue

Earlier this year, some Porsche drivers complained about the Taycan, which is powered by an 800-volt battery, suddenly stalling. In a filing on May 17, the NHTSA described the problem as “loss of motive power while in motion at any speed.”

Every car.
Requires trip to the dealership.

Test of Mercedes EQS - efficiency on par with Model 3, combined with 108kWh battery does 686km/415mi (638 actually driven and 48 left according to range display) at 65mph/104km/h average speed. Some extra aerodynamic mods though in this test car, will be interesting what the actual production cars will do. Wonder if Elon will stand by his word that more than 400mi range are not necessary if it turns out production car would beat Model S in range.

WLTP range?

Renault's press office have written a corporate suicide note:

These companies have their heads so far in the sand they can taste oil.

"The greenest mix in the European market in 2025, with more than 65 per cent vehicles in sales mix electric or electrified"

gotta love this nonsense. Or electrified.. And what about brands that are 100% electric? Did they forget the most valuable auto company?

One can only imagine the articles if skeptics bothered to be skeptics of actual dying companies.

Interesting, they don´t give a time range where they determined that share of retail volume but gives a good ballpark figure, had thought it would be less. Likely very unevenly distributed across different stocks though..

My decanter just officially shipped. They are really pushing everything they can out before midnight. Bullish.
The problem with all these Teslaquilla orders is when the numbers show Tesla was profitable, it will be because of the sale of Teslaquilla decanters. At some point, there will essentially be no demand for Teslaquilla decanters and profitability will evaporate like alcohol.

Well the currently available Mercedes EQC (fully electric BEV) sells for about 80.000 EUR (~95.000 USD). Source: someone I work with bought it last month. The 80k EUR was even with a "discount" and he was annoyed that "Tesla doesn't give discounts".

So the Mercedes EQS won't be in the same price range as the refreshed model S. A quick Google search states the pricing for the max range EQS will be around 100.000 GBP (~138.000 USD) but more likely it'll end up costing more than that.

Not saying the EQS is a bad car, but that Tesla could easily offer higher range at that price point. Currently Tesla prefers to find the sweet spot between margins, performance and range. Can't imagine Mercedes reaching 20 or 30% margin on their cars, let alone EV's.

So Mercedes is a great 'competitor' advancing the switch to BEV's, sucking sales from ICE, not from Tesla.

Porsche now saying Taycan more popular than the 911 Per CNBC. Good for EV popularity.

edit. North American CEO blah blah 15% goes to Taycan. Kernan whining about having to wait for a 911. CEO says still investing into ICE engines but hard into EVs. Talking up sports car community. Finally talking about recall for Taycan - 20 out of 10,000 have it. Will require 90 min at dealer (cause no OTA …).

My guestimate for production is 215k and deliveries of 205k.

Reasoning: both Shanghai and Fremont have seemed very busy this quarter. Inventory was very low at the end of Q1, expect it to increase. Shanghai has been producing cars for export this month and a couple of thousand or more Model S seem to be still awaiting a part (these might be classed as work-in-progress, but they have been manufactured so I'm including them in production).

It was certainly like that end of 18Q4. That was when tax credits started to go away.
I wasn't referring to the fact they sold everything they could by the end of the quarter - that is usual. But normally they are still delivering cars at the last possible minute, and here some reports say they were done the day before, or the morning of the last day.

Should be front page news....right??

Final numbers from Norway for June are in:

Model 3 most sold car at 3200 (6270 since Jan, 16% market share),
followed by RAV4 1104 (5316)
and ID4 at 872 (4330).

ID3 is a distant 20th at 380 (1097).
