So it's fine to speculate, but it's not fine to speculate when it's not needed. Roger that.

What? Missed a bunch of words in between there? People speculate when there are no obvious answers provided. But when there's an obvious answer, then your speculation is just completely misleading and has almost a zero chance of being right.

Annnd now you can speculate away as Tesla has deviated away from the broad market movement. See how this works?
Dude, your repeated back'n'forthing without introducing any new evidence is just going to get you on people's ignore list.

Here's what actually happened before noon, relative to the NASDAQ-100 (represented on this chart by the QQQ)

TSLA.chart.2020-05-29.12-00.png

You can clearly see that TSLA began diverging from the QQQ starting at 10:08 am when it was trading in the $804 range. This diverenge mostly worked as multipler of the macros, but per-minute Volume info (the RED histogram at the bottom of the chart) is interesting in the run up to $820 during the ~30 min b4 noon.

Now that the event is in clear focus, we can speculate as to causes. Imma vote for CALL holders needing to run up the SP so they can execute their contracts.

Unfortunately, NASDAQ provides zero information on whether a contract was executed or sold, so we have little visibility into the intent of the these traders other than End-of-Day Options volume.

Anyone have other ideas / sources of information (evidence)?

Cheers!

What the F*** was that question about being asked to choose between allegiance to US or China????
Back to the You are with us or you are against us mentality eh? #SMH but nothing as insane as this would come out from orange man's mouth right?!?! /s

Can we strap in the orange for a ride to ISS on the outside of the Falcon 9?

We're going up because of the Jay Leno episode. Feel free to (try to) change my mind. Advertisement at its finest. Entertainment for the viewer, views for the host, and brand awareness for Tesla. Win-win-win is always better than pay per view.
Marketing at it's finest actually. Not unlike transporting the Astronauts in a Model X... even my 86 yo Dad took notice of that!

Here's Theory #2: TSLA has been beaten down compared to the macros over the past week (yes @Singuy there is *actual* evidence of what happened):

TSLA.5-Day.2020-05-29.png

So in this scenario, white hat traders want to bring TSLA back inline with the NASDAQ-100 (QQQ above) for the end of the week.

This is easy to test. We'll just need to look at this chart again at 16:00 hrs to see if TSLA can catch up to QQQ.

Cheers!

It didn't hurt that every single time they mentioned the cars they said "Tesla", not "car". Like, "now they're heading for the Tesla", "They're heading to the pad in the Tesla", "now they're exiting the Tesla" etc. I wonder if they'd have done the same with some other brand? Guess we'll see when Boeing gets their *sugar* together.

If SpaceX (via Starlink and other ways) becomes a key vendor for the Department of Defense, would it cause China to rethink its relationship with Elon if a new "Cold War" develops?

Maybe Elon would be unique in the world in having great relationships at high levels of both governments.

But the nice part was that it didn't cost a cent. If GM had built the rocket and used an eHummer, they would have blanketed the airwaves with expensive commercials during the breaks. Tesla knows they can get just as a good if not better response by not doing that.

Interesting though a given point. Elon stated on the NBC show the Roadster 2.0 will be on a brand new platform. Anyone else want to guess what will share that same platform?
Plaid S/X obviously. The running gear, and software will be nearly identical, so that's like 90%+ commonality between these 3 vehicles. But remember, the Roadster is 'dessert', so it'll come out after the plaid S/X are released.

Personally, I expect ALL S/X will have the plaid powertrain, just in a detuned form like the AWD Model 3 vs the Performance Model 3. The SRPM motors are cheaper to manufacture, simpler and more reliable than the old-style AC performance motors in currently shipping Raven S/X cars.

With plaid underpinnings, Tesla can provide the base model S/X with an arbitary amount of performance, while still having some cards up their sleeves for OTA performance purchases, like the AWD Model 3 acceleration upgrade for $2K first offered in Q4 2019.

Cheers!
