JP Morgan raised PT from 155 to 160!!

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX Analyzer) - The US bank JPMorgan has raised the price target for Tesla from 155 to 160 US dollars, but left the rating at "underweight". Analyst Ryan Brinkman raised estimates for the manufacturer of electric vehicles in a study published on Tuesday. He justified this with the worldwide deliveries in the second quarter, which would have slightly exceeded his expectations. The risks involved in implementing the operational plans and a high rating speak against the shares./bek/mis

At least they are moving in the right direction -- even if by baby steps. It takes only about a hundred more "upgrades" like this to catch up with today's market reality in terms of stock price. A few more hundreds and they may become bullish ;)
Patience is a virtue!

Looks like Tesla has started selling the China made Model 3 LR in Norway.

This can be seen from the LRW part of this URL:
2021 Model 3 | Tesla Norge

This is priced around $2300 lower than the Fremont made Model 3 LR.

The China made Model 3 SR+ has been available in Europe for a while.
Germanys LR M3 also have the LRW in the URL.

Edit: Snooped around a bit an noticed:
Difference between used (35k km on the odometer, 1 year old) & brand new is just 1000€. For the brand new one you will still be eligible for 6k government-subsidies. So the new is in fact cheaper than the used one....

Adam Jonas' China arguments make no sense.

Solving road congestion and air pollution are top priorities for the Chinese government, and an autonomous Tesla Network solves both. There is no local competitor for the Chinese government to favor over Tesla unless they want to wait a decade or so. The difficulties Tesla has had solving vision means they have an even bigger moat in autonomous than we thought.
And who cares if Tesla has to store their Chinese data in China.

Tesmanian - today: Tesla Model 3 Is Best-Selling EV in France in 1H 2021, 5th in All Car Types

Excerpt:

While sales of new combustion engine vehicles in France are falling, electric models continue to gain in popularity. The main growth success of the EV segment belongs to Tesla Model 3, which became the most popular car in the first half of 2021, far ahead of the local Renault Zoé and Peugeot e-208.

Throughout 2021, Tesla Model 3 has shone brilliantly in the French market, reaching new records. In June, its sales exceeded all expectations and 5,001 units were registered, according to AAA Data Reports Capital. This earned it a victory in the BEV market with a whopping 1,652 units ahead of its closest competitor, Renault Zoé, which sold 3,349 units. Model 3 also won in the PHEV market, beating Peugeot 3008 with 4,743 registrations.

Model 3 took the #1 spot, while the Model S took the #3 spot as having the highest satisfaction rating from surveyed German BEV drivers

Look at number 2- The Skoda citing-e. Dirt cheap but fun to drive and practical. What's not to like about that? It handily beats low expectations. Is the the VAG car that VW cannot make? It's a bit odd that Porsche manages an excellent product and Skoda does. Bugatti has been ceded to Rimac, so there will be some fine exotica. Now why cannot VW and Audi make good BEV's?

Because A) they are trying not to cannibalize ICE sales and B) they are trying to use a gas car platform. Neither strategy will yield good EVs.

Skoda stopped making the Citigo-e last year. Apparently it was "too popular"? Here's a story from September 2020...

I believe that AJ and others are forgetting about exports. If China were to hamstring Tesla (or others) that are trying to build a manufacturing base, and indeed an entire industry, in the country to be the world's source of cars they would be shooting themselves in the foot. As Tesla grows and wins inside of China an entire eco-system will be created. Talent feeds on talent, suppliers concentrate etc. Unlike the empty jingoism we see from say the Trump or Biden administration, China seems to care about results. They see the opportunity to become the new Germany/Japan for the auto world.

... Now why cannot VW and Audi make good BEV's?
a. It’s harder to turn a corporation that makes oil burners that roll into a company that wraps batteries and automation into a product that rolls than it is to start up a company that does the latter (which is nearly but not quite impossible)

b. If they can make cars as efficient as they need to be in order to sell a viable BEV then they’d be asked to make their ICE cars equally efficient. The legacy OEM’s seem to have spent great energy and considerable ingenuity avoiding efficiency for decades.

c. The automotive and oil industries are, when taken together, a printers-and-ink business.

d. In the collective heart of hearts of these corporations—were they to have hearts that is—they simply do not want to make BEV’s.

e. All of the above.

I'm not so sure. It seems the car listed costs 463 000NOK while the listed LR M3 costs 449 000 which I assume is the Freemont one? Christine I assume you did notice the one you listed was slightly used so had a cheaper price because of that?

I'm just confused on the pricing here.
