Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yes, iteration in manufacturing is a key aspect to consider in this comparison. Note, I did not do any specific research in the subject, so what follows is simply my opinion based on things I read / heard over the years, and I could be wrong. Bearing this forewarning in mind, here is my...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is kind of a farewell post from me. I have been a TSLA investor, avid reader and occasional poster on this board for 9 years. It has been a very interesting experience, I have learned a lot from you guys -- huge thank you for that! I have now changed my investment strategy, because I need...

non-GAAP income $3.1B, operating cash flow same, but free cash flow only $1B. I have no clue about accounting, can someone explain in laymen terms where did the other $2.1B go ?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Lucky timing. My portfolio is still down about $3million compared to January of 2022. (and that is pretty much all attributed to TSLA, stock + options)

Oh, but look at that panel gap, you could almost fit the charger plug into it, no need for that door next to it ;)

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I don't think 100K shares is big enough chunk to move the market, the daily volume was around 133million shares, so his sale was below 0.1% of the volume.

That person sounds like a closet-TSLAQ advocate. Talking about EV market being like Android market vs Smart-phone market, i.e. no clean winner of vast majority of profits (Apple), but then he posts a graph including plugin-hybrids ?!?! Look, squirrel ! Because the graph of EVs would actually...

And the Wall Street estimate was holding steady at 421k all this time, not fluctuating up and down between 409k and 438k and still managed to hit much closer than ANY of Troy's numbers ! So, why is it worth paying attention to his ever changing numbers ? Might as well use the good old fashioned...

But 12 years is way more than an eternity for Wall Street. They don't even have such calendars let alone columns in their spreadsheets that far out. They will react to such bans when it happens in the next few quarters, at best a year ahead. To put it another way: this news means to them, oh...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The real question isn't how fast Tesla can grow in a recession, but how fast all the competitors with their hundreds of $billions of debt go bankrupt. The talking heads on CNBC will be in trouble once they can no longer bring up their favorite "competition is coming" slogan.

A guy with 20 shares tuition money has the ability to sell 2 and a half hours after market close ? I don't think so! Please, tell me how to get such trading privilege, because my broker will not give me such authority, even though I have a lot more than 20 shares...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Jedi Elon to storm-troopers on Wall Street: these are not the droids investor messages you are looking for! to put it plainly: they are talking about the next decade of investment growth, not the next few quarters or even years this flies WAAAYYYY over Wall Street's heads.

Of course, Tesla has been losing certain market shares. For example, they had some green-car market share (back when they sold green Model S), but they completely lost that market, now they have 0 market share of green cars. Similarly for brown cars. If you really want to get technical with...

Just a reminder to everyone about the elephant in the room "influencing" today's SP action: Mr. Powell will make a speech this afternoon, and if he poops into the cereal bowl again that will make the market very grumpy.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I will make a simple conditional prediction for the SP reaction on the ER tomorrow: 1. If Elon is on the call the stock will dip (go down) 2. If Elon is not on the call, the stock will rally (go up) I am not attempting to predict the size of the move (that depends on how the fundamentals are...

Also note, that the story claimed he is raising "upto $3B" and the question was whether it is "accurate" to which he replied No. So, if he is actually raising say $4B, then the story is not accurate yet the effect is even worse and the negation gives false hope. I am not claiming there is any...

The article failed to mention how much profit IBKR made on those naked shorts. I'd be willing to bet that they made a lot more than $5.5 million profit on them, so this fine is just a small cost of doing business for them. Now, if a retail investor was somehow trying to pull something like that...

Isn't the difference between LR-AWD and P just software for the model 3? There was some motor binning in addition to software, i.e. same specs but those units that pass tighter tolerances are used for P -- something that maybe eliminated by streamlined / improved manufacturing where all motors...

But 120 has significantly more calls than puts open, so MMs will actually want to close just below 120. So any number 119.xx is perfect for them, which is exactly where we are now, so the day is done as far as they are concerned.

The proper unwinding should be achieved by producing all cars for Europe in Berlin, not just fully ramping Y, but also produce model 3 at the very least. It may not be economical to setup lines for S/X in Berlin.

You must have done some very interesting and impressive mathematical gymnastics to believe the statements that I have put in bold above. So yesterday after-hours had a spike up on Elon's promise not to sell any more shares during the next year or two. Talking about margin: early last week I bought a bunch of 140 puts expiring this weekend with the purpose of protecting my margin, never thought they would become ITM, now I am trying to walk a tight-rope selling some of them at good profit and trying to keep just enough to avoid getting margin...

That may very well be true. HOWEVER, what is not guaranteed at all is that the market will react positively and the SP will rise in response. I love this theme here, that it is always the Next quarter that is going to be fantastic and will burn the shorts, the current one (despite being a record P/D) is being received negatively by Mr. Market, but its OK, because "next Q the market will go crazy and the shortz get burned". People...

Tesla software crappiness is not about FSD. That beta is nowhere near to be ready for commercial release (think many years, maybe decades, and no I'm not talking about level 2 assist system, but what the NAME actually means: Full Self Driving, aka level 5) so it isn't even on the table for...

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

@dl003 Is it really a gap if we traded there the day before yesterday ? I understand that there was a gap between yesterday closing and today opening, which was not revisited during the day, but that price range has been traded through on the way down just the day before (Monday).
