Tesla wants to monitor my activity data

A pop up appeared in my Tesla app asking to monitor my activity data.

Presumably if I’m not that active, the car will refuse to start and I’ll have to push it until I reach the required amount of activity!

Anyone else had this?

Sounds like the app activity cookies you agreed to originally may have expired & needed refreshing. Did it pop up when you accessed a screen you don't usually? What was the actual wording?

this was just my normal Powerwall screen, nor even the car part. Sorry, can’t remember the actual wording.

A pop up appeared in my Tesla app asking to monitor my activity data.

I had that too. I said no. I think it said something about reducing something (energy consumption somewhere ... "Checking if needs to be ready to receive an instruction" type thingies) when phone activity was low.

I said NO ('coz I choose to severely limit all personal data stuff), but maybe that will mean that it won't every attempt to SLEEP and save some power.

(I also have PowerWall, but I don't know if message was specific to that. I would have been on the PowerWall screen, at the time, 'coz that's the one I use during the day to check on PV / Battery etc.)

My thought is it's meant to defeat relay attacks. If your car receives a ping from the phone and it's deemed not active for a while, i.e. sleeping, it may not unlock or start.

Just my guess though. Seems like a good idea to me so I allowed access.

Yeah, I got that. Said no, because the car doesn't need to know whether I'm walking around / exercising or not. They already know where my phone is with the app's location tracking, and that ought to be enough. They're gonna have to explain a little more why they think this would help me.
