Tesla X beats Ferrari

This is getting to be tedious. The latest from Drag Times has a Tesla Model X (Ludicrous mode) beating a Ferrari F430.

that looks pretty close to my P85 vs P90D Model X for the 1/4 mile but the P85 won't be gaining and passing the X at the end. The Ferrari will smoke the X after the 1/4
although this road is probably stickier than the unprepped strip we raced on so I never hooked up off the line either

Simply amazing demonstration of electric power; the F430 is an amazing car around the track, but also no slouch on the strip and it is clearly inferior to the X in a straight line.

Good point. I'll never race a Ferrari or do any kind of race.
However, this does highlight the incredible acceleration of the Tesla which does have direct relevance to me. I do a lot of driving on winding, steep mountain two lane roads. I can pass any car with only limited sight distance. I do this frequently and I really enjoy knowing that I have that acceleration available. Also, for just pure fun, entering a freeway on-ramp and watching the cars behind disappear is just like engaging warp speed.

Yes, the however is misplaced. I am not disagreeing. I agree with loganintx. The drag race (or any other kind of race) is not something that I would ever do and this driving is irrelevant to my use of the car.

I have no interest in drag racing myself, but the engine sound on the Ferrari made it sound kind of like it was crying at the end of some of those races.

Except that it didn't. The second run was over 12 seconds (more than the 1/4) and the F430 wasn't even starting to pull on the X yet. So "after" would be long long after".

Not your father's SUV any more. I don't need the speed but it makes it more respectful anyway. In my youth I experienced a similar lead on a race and the other guy smoked his engine as he had to make up the distance and pass me.
