Update on my situation: I got a call from the supervisor in the delivery team and I was able vent to her about the whole messed up delivery process I've gone through. She admitted that my trade should have been reassessed before the final paperwork was sent to me for signatures on 6/4 and not 5-7 days before I take delivery. I also vented to her about how those of use that ordered in March of 2019 and put down $2500 got treated worse than folks that ordered in May and put down $100. I said that Tesla should at least recognize those of use that funded the start of the production of this model some how. Instead they just ignore the fact. I also vented about the referral program and how it was unfair. I would like to recognize a friend that helped me decide to get a Tesla (at this point I'm not holding it against her ;)) and I would like her to get something for promoting the product. I told them I wasn't trying to get something but wanted my friend to get something. I told them I would be happy to talk to more of the leaders there about my experience. Overall I feel better but they still didn't step up and do anything significant. My trade value stays as is, but they did check to see if it could be adjusted. I think their trade evaluation department is just focused on insuring Tesla doesn't loose money on trade ins and the don't give a rat's backside about how this goes with the customer.

She did tell me that I could continue to provide feedback to Tesla at [email protected]. I'm going to write them a nice long letter about all this.

The only good thing she told me last night is my car was being unloaded from the truck at the Houston delivery center. So I'll be calling today to see if I can validate I can pick it up on the date set on my account page, Saturday 4pm.

Sorry, but I have learned that the [email protected] address doesn't work. So I have reached out to Tesla to ask how to send feedback. I'm hoping I got it wrong but I have seen other posts in the past about this address not working but yet Tesla staff are giving it out. More bad Tesla communication... even internally.

9 days from placing my order to the car being ready (slightly worried about that timeline).
What is the VIN on the car? Pretty sure you are getting someone's rejected or cancelled car. As you can see on these forums those of us that ordered more than a year ago are getting notices almost a month in advance to prepare delivery, payment etc and in my case eventually get a delivery date 2 weeks ahead of delivery. So there is no way they built your car after you placed the order. That car was already in Dallas for some reason, hopefully someone cancelled an order at the last minute.

Thats not necessarily true. I placed an order on May 30 for MSM/black/LR and got a text 2/3 days later that said the car would be ready for delivery in 10 days. I ended up changing my config to White/Black P no PUP and now I have no idea when I’m getting the car. It seems like some configs either get built quicker or have less of wait/line for delivery. White interior definitely seems to be one of the slower ones... also haven’t seen any other Performance no PUP with 20’’ like mine, so I think I might’ve picked another slow one.

My VIN ends in 0099XX. When I first got the VIN I was told it was at the factory and would be arriving to the delivery center next week, but I’m not sure how true that actually was. I’m thinking it was either a cancelled order, or they’ve made a surplus of my config and one was already good to go. If it was refused and perhaps they fixed some things in service I’m not sure how I’d be able to tell? Do they have to disclose that someone else previously refused a car?

Talked to rep yesterday on White/White PUP, 21" and FSF. Austin Local handoff scheduled for 7-11, but rep said off Train in Memphis yesterday...waiting on car hauler. Thinking is 10 days: transport via hauler, wash/detail (?), then delivery. Maybe by end of June. On order since 3-14-2019. Will drive car 3 blocks after delivery to PPF installer for full auto PPF, Ceramic and full glass tinting. Miss the V-12 Mercedes, but new Tesla should be quicker.

I was just going to respond to this because I saw your SL. Why did you get rid of it and not use it as a weekender? I have a 2002 SL500.

I'm in a pretty similar situation. Placed order in January 2020, which means I put down $2,500. Still waiting on a VIN. I originally ordered Black/White interior/PUP w/ 21" wheels; I then changed it to MSM PUP in Feb; and then changed it again in March to MSM/White Interior/20" inductions - the same as yours minus the tow hitch. I haven't received a call from a local delivery specialist yet, but the Nevada folks called me quite a bit around the middle of May through the beginning of June to finish my account information. I hadn't completed everything yet because I was trying to get them to accept a CarMax quote for a trade-in. Long story short: because I emailed them 8 days after I received the Carmax quote and not 7 days after, they wouldn't accept their offer (this was near the end of May). Tesla's offer was $5k less and that's what they were sticking to. I declined the trade-in with them and am just going to move forward with CarMax. The Nevada delivery specialist said I should receive the car by the end of this month but given it's now 6/18 and I haven't heard anything further it's not looking promising. I'm also going crazy looking in the source code multiple times per day and still nothing.

I was contacted in March by a delivery specialist thinking they could possibly deliver pre-shut down. Never happened of course. But whats interesting is that my account page used to show my delivery center, address, and phone number. Its disappeared. I used the source code method to search key terms to see if it was hidden. Nothing. Cannot find anything on my page now about the Plano Service Center.

So add me to the list of screwed customers. Paid in full, according to MVPS, set deliver date but trade in expired 2 days ago. Car has done 500 miles since the trade in offer so now they think that should be worth $1850 less. At that rate the car should be worthless in 12000 miles.
What a joke this sales organization has become.

Well, let me add to the complete chaos that has been my sales experience.

At about 5pm I got a call from my delivery center saying they couldn’t deliver my car tomorrow because they needed new paperwork on my trade. Now I just completed that paperwork on Wednesday, scanned and emailed it to them that day and then dropped the FedEx envelope with the originals at my local office that afternoon. I told the delivery guy I received an email from a different person at the delivery center saying I’m good to go and my appointment at 4pm was still good. He was copied on that email. At this point he did some reading on my account and said he saw that they received the paperwork I sent FedEx but he needed the okay from the Nevada person to proceed. He said he would call them and then call me back. About 40 minutes later he called and said I could receive the car at my scheduled time tomorrow. I’ve received no instructions on the delivery process so far. I asked about my trade and how to give them the keys since this is “touchless” delivery. He said just to leave the keys in it. Right! Not in that area in Houston. So I’m going in and handing them the keys. I don’t have high hopes of this going well tomorrow.

I find it hard to believe that Tesla’s sales process seems to be getting worse not better. Are they not learning anything for what they did with the M3? What I find completely disheartening is that Tesla seems to not care about the customer which is going to be very bad for them in the long run.

This is disappointing to read. My other half has already requested that I look for something else to purchase due to the sheer lack of communication from Tesla. . Lack of External sourced components, production bottlenecks and a GD pandemic are understandable. But an utter lack of communication, reduction in trade in values expired by a few days is not. Honestly all it would take is a weekly courtesy call to smooth things over. However it seem there is enough people who will tolerate bad customer service for Tesla status symbol.

I’ve been watching a lot of Rich Rebuilds. He adds a lot of fair constructive criticism regarding Tesla’s policy and treatment to those who would try to perform their own maintenance. I’ve also heard not so nice things from clients with Tesla’s when it comes to service. I don’t want to cancel. But my spouse has requested no vin by the Fourth of July that I cancel. I’d rather not cancel.

I hope everything is awesome for your sake and so that I can have some reassurance for myself.

Took delivery today at Houston North. Overall experience at the delivery center was good. The delivery guy was attentive and logged all of my issues.

There were definitely alignment issues with panels in the front passenger corner and the rear driver side door. I had the rear tail light alignment issue. One large scratch from transport, a couple of inclusions. All logged in the due bill. Headliner was loose near the hatch. Had the rear seat issue.

only thing they would not fix were some scratches around the door hinges where it looks like doors were adjusted. I’m not too concerned.

overall I think they need a better QC process to find these issues at the factory.

I went ahead and accepted delivery since they agreed to fix everything.

car is awesome though

Congrats elnimo! Glad you were able to take the car home. I’m hoping for a similar experience today.

My experience in Texas was pretty smooth overall. I got the long range with 20'' wheels in gray. They told me about an issue with a door, i took delivery anyways because i didn't want to delay and just had it fixed myself via tesla. They dropped it at my house in Plano texas and drove off in my trade. They did say due to covid they recommended i watched videos and didn't give me a walk through. Super painless and have your app ready to go moment 1.

I've had a couple of quality issues. One spot needed repainted, some things like door alignment they said was within spec, but overall my car has been great. VIN is early 3000s.

Get Carmax to quote the car imo. You'll probably make a bit more and you don't have to worry about Tesla. I paid cash upfront so idk about the loan process with them.

I’m not envious of all the trouble you’ve had to go through. Anxious to see if you still find the car worth the trouble (hoping so haha).

I ended up setting up a test drive in Houston for the Y since I have no idea when mine will be here. The person handling the test drives has been one of the least friendly Tesla reps so far. Also I emailed my delivery specialist on Tuesday about getting a clearer idea on when I’ll receive the car, and he hasn’t said anything.

So I went to Tesla.com today and chatted with same questions.. they said a delivery specialist would email me... it’s annoying because I’m currently carless and I wish they had set up better delivery expectations.

Just picked up my car at Houston North. Overall a good experience. It was a little busy but I got what I needed. The paint was close to perfect. One small blemish in the clear coat above the right passenger door. It was a bright sunny day so inspecting the paint was easy but it was hot so it wasn’t something I wanted to do for too long. o_O It looked great. I thought there were scratches on the wheel covers and rims but it wound up being some grease smeared on it. I found a few blemishes that wound up just being dirt. Be sure to take a microfiber cloth with you to delivery! I do have an issue with the back seat alignment and the headliner wasn’t tucked properly under the gasket for the hatch. The drivers door needs some adjusting as it doesn’t close as easily as it should but operates fine for now. All these things were logged with the delivery guy. I’ll put in a service request for all that and anything else I find when I do a more detailed inspection tomorrow morning.

I have to say the car is way better than I expected. I guess all the bad reports set my expectations very low. The delivery went very well. They helped get the app set up on my phone before I left. I’m hoping that this is a sign that Tesla is fixing things in the production process and improving quality. Let’s hope all the cars from this point forward are at least this good if not better. I’m breathing a big sign of relief.

Now on to the fun stuff!:D
