Text message asking to confirm purchase agreement

I got a text message both yesterday and today saying the following:

Congratulations on taking delivery of your Model 3! By responding YES, you confirm that you took delivery of the vehicle with VIN xxxxxxx on 4/3/2019 and that you agree with your final Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement, which is available in your Tesla account.​

I've had the car for 2.5 months, so not sure why anyone from Tesla would legitimately be sending me this text. Anyone else get a similar text? It is from an area code 510 number.

510 is the Bay Area, of course. Seems weird they didn’t email or call you. Do you have a contact to call or even just call national support. If they know your VIN doesn’t sound too suspicious but what didn’t you sign at delivery.

I'll just ignore it. They can e-mail if they actually want a response. But I already had plenty of communication before and after delivery.

I would ignore it too. There are much more official means of communication for something like this.

I just received the exact same text message, two days in a row. I can find no reference on Tesla’s web page. I’m going to ignore it as well.

Wow that sounds like a targeted phishing message if ever I saw one. Doubtful it's from a 510 area code either.

BTW we've bought two Teslas and never received anything like that from Tesla.

I received the same message by email. I didn't respond because it asked me to reply if I collected the car on a specific date and I didn't collect it that day so no reply. That was on 27th December and a month after collection. The return email ([email protected]) seems to be genuine but who knows why they want to know.

I received text message and replied YES. It came in from same number that all my other texts from Tesla, including the one that told me my M3 was entering production on 12/24 and I should schedule pick up.

I have received text from Tesla, followed with an email from a person on same subject.

The email they sent had all of my contract/personal info attached. So I assumed it was legit and had no issues.

It was not spam. They sent an email from an official Tesla email address a week later asking the same thing. It had the "Tesla Delivery Operations" signature. That was 6 months ago. This is an old topic.
