the wife doesn't like my car any more

Commuting to work, I have to pop in to a supplier to pick up some parts.
Wifee says she'll wait in the car as she normally does for a few minutes

Wife comes into store red faced and furious
What's the matter?

Your * ing car just deafened me

Oops, thinks I - that's probably that software update that plays loud music if the alarm goes off, and the key is in my pocket so you probably triggered the alarm. Rage subsided all is well again.

Next day - repeat trip

Aha - Dearest wife I have an idea - the car has a mode that disables the internal sensors so the alarm won't go off

Aircon Menu ... arrgh, too late ... Dog mode

Wife (trying not to laugh) not exactly impressed with being left in "dog mode". Still not (quite) a divorce

Return to car

Wife in hysterics

apparently "Owner will be back soon" plastered across a 17 inch screen for all to see is just too much

anybody know a good divorce lawyer?

Well, there are ways to avoid this as others have note in this thread. The onus is on you, not the wife.

Now if TESLA would just fix the two-fob problem: i.e. if wife approaches the car on the passenger side the controls move to her configuration even though I am getting in on the driver's side (and vice versa). How about it TESLA, you fixed the Supercharger outage problem with a recent software update, surely you can fix this one too.

I think Elon replied to someone requesting this and I believe he said 'ok'. Which means between now and when it gets released.

Wife said she liked the Tesla, until she drove it. "Too Complicated. Why didn't you get the Mercedes that you know I always wanted"

So now we have a MB S class. Guess who has to drive it and park it, and refer to the 560 page manual to answer questions...

Exactly. Right there with you.

I had to move the significant others Audi and it took so many steps just to get it into reverse. The Tesla is so simple.

LOL.. my parents hate my car.

Too expensive for the car you get.
Insurance premium rapage in So.Cali.
Too expensive to repair, long delays at the body shop if it ever gets in a collision.
(parents had a friend who had a tesla and got into an accident... didnt see the car again for 4 months.)

Car has too much violent acceleration. (P100D... uhh why else do you think i got it?)
Car is too bumpy. (doe... darn my 21 inch rims)
Car is too loud. (again can be blamed on the rims)
Too difficult to get into the car. (compared to there S class)
Have to plug the car in at night near the charger.... (they have a hard enough time charging there cell phone every night)

Yeah.... they don't like my car at all, but i still enjoy it. :p

Too bad for the entire planet they're so clueless on climate change. Sorry, but such a sad legacy for perhaps their entire generation.

Once the over-a-century-of-dumping-GHG's reaches the tipping point, it'll make CV-19 look like a picnic.

>>yeah! we have a 560 page PDF we can just do a search for keywords on!<<

For oldies like me it's far better to be able to stick a finger in one page while finding a referenced item! A single "page" in an onscreen manual can have a dozen or more references & by the time I've found and read 3 or 4 (each having its OWN links....) I've forgotten what the question is!

Luckily people have the option to print it if they feel inclined to do so.

Started leaving my key in the car when a passenger is waiting for me. Seemed to be the easiest solution without having to access controls to disable security functions. Maybe there are better alternatives?

I also just leave the fob in the car. I just drop it in the seat on my way out. That is hardly a difficult solution, and it's the considerate thing to do.

It would be mighty nice if the passenger airbag sensor would allow all functions (except, perhaps, driving) to remain on.
