You almost have to wonder if there wasn't something wrong with that car that nobody knew about. The battery is old but in excellent condition, only 12k miles, pretty good configuration. That's a huge bummer. How did Tesla screw up the 3.0 battery so badly? It seems like it shouldn't have been hard to grab the 18650s from the Model S and slap them in. Unless you got the bad cells from the P90D or the BMS is failing.Sad to wave goodbye to VIN #209, but at this point I've sunk way too much $$$ into her to justify spending another $30k on a new battery. I'm very disappointed these R80 batteries are failing.
The Model S cells don't have the right voltage characteristics to match up with the old Roadster PEMs. They had to use some 3rd party cells for the r80 pack.That's a huge bummer.
