Tow wiring harness battery voltage

I am trying to wire the tow harness for my 2023 Y. Has anyone tried grabbing the 12v/battery voltage from the rear cig light port? I know that the cig port is not constant power like the battery. But the cig port would have power whenever I would be moving. So in my mind this should work. The instructions want me to run a wire all the way to the battery. Its not like the tow module draws a lot of power. Tempted to just give it a try. Worse case scenario I end up running the wire all the way to the battery.

You should be able to get a constant (not interrupted) 12V (or may be now 16V ?) from the ODB2 port.

The general rule for Tesla cars is to never connect anything to the battery. This is doubly true if you have a 16v system because the battery capacity is tiny.
