Two Tesla's each with different software versions

We got our second Tesla, a MY LR on Sunday. The other is a 2018 M3 LR.

I noticed that the M3 is running 2022.8.2 and the MY is running 2022.3.102. This means that the UI is slightly different.

I assumed that 8.2 is later than 3.102, but according to Software Updates Archives – Tesla Software Updates 8.2 was released on March 15, 2022 and 3.102 was released on March 24.

How do the version numbers compare?

Is there some way to keep both cars at the same software version?

8.2 is the newest non-FSD-beta software. New cars aren't updated until some after being received. Seems like mine was weeks.

No. Tesla decides when to target specific vehicles for updates. We have both an S and a 3; sometimes they get the same update within a day of each other, other times one gets an update that the other doesn’t get until later or ever.

Most updates don't make significant UI changes. That only happens with the major releases (like V11). In many cases the updates have bug fixes with no UI changes at all.

Right, most don't. But 2022.8.2 has some changes to the V11 interface that are not in 2022.3.102 .
