Hi all, can anyone help with this Q on wheel rim covers?

I have an M3 performance (2023) with 20" uber turbine wheels. Got substantial amount of curb rash on the wheels. Need advice on whether rim covers are the answer and if so, the ones you'd recommend. Presumably I should also repair (some) the rashes to protect against rust or the like before I stick rim covers on?

Appreciate help/advice/pointers/links.

Thank you.

Rim covers also can leave scuffs so depends on your needs.

If you want to cover the existing scratches rim covers can do that job and depending on when you are planning to sell the car you can use smart repairs and fix the rims.

Or if you want to do it now before putting those rim covers be aware that they can leave scuffs which you may have to fix before selling.

Forum regulars buy from various sources, aliexpress, amazon and Tessories are commonly mentioned. Browse what is available and then decide for yourself. Another one is Rimetrix but this is an US online site and they charge shipping.

Thank you. I'll be keeping the car for at least 3 more yrs and feeling very embarrassed with the state of the rims so defo need to do something.

It's more than scratches, there's been grating against kerbs and when driving through the narrow gaps, struggling with space judgement clearly.

You mention smart repairs, is this the small touch-up paint stuff or other? I'm more in the territory (I think) where light sanding (or equivalent) may be needed and then paint. Then potentially rim covers (understand your caution about post-scuffs). Are there alloy-repair specialists to recommend? I'm in Herts UK.

For over 5 years I am using Rimblades, which are relatively inexpensive and of a good quality. Easy to install, but less easy to remove! They cover the existing scratches well (if that what you want to do), but they did save my wheels from a few scuffs for sure! I found them more effective when protecting from a direct hit (e.g. hitting a kerb at an angle) rather than from a "squeeze" during a parallel parking.

All the Revive franchises do alloy wheel repairs. Also check with local alloy wheel repairs I am not familiar with Herts local.
I have had a very poor experience with Revive (in Sussex) and will not use a mobile repair company again.

IMHO you need somewhere who will do a proper, thorough job - dipping the wheels to remove existing finish / refinish / powder coat for a resilient finish.

Just my opinion, but I think those wheel covers look dreadful.

I am in Watford and have used a company a couple of times for my 2022 M3P - they are good. MMAK in Watford.
