Dropped car off at SC this morning and got some interesting "news".

So It in for front half shaft replacement due to noise under heavy acceleration. Now I have gotten to know the SAs there over the years (buy them pizza every now and then) and they take really good care of me. So as I was getting ready to pull out in the loaner car and my SA walked up and told me that he had forgot to mention that since I have a Plaid, I have the option to use new updated "more robust" (his words) half shafts. He said he needed to let me know because the new ones apparently feed more of the regen sound into the cabin when "pulling into parking spaces only" (once again, his words).

i asked him how loud could it be??? thinking jeez, he actually stopped me to tell me this ?? lol
At any rate, I opted for them so I will post back about it.

But more importantly, has anyone heard of this?

BTW- I'm also getting supposedly a new HEPA filter and apparently, they have upgraded the actual filter material too (not just the case).

I need new half shafts, 2nd set is clanking again. how are the new “upgraded” ones
SL far they have been great. I have only done about 20 launches with them LOL (which is more than I did in 2 years with the original set) and they are still good.
Time maybe more of a factor but for now I will take it.
They do groan a little bit when turning sharp and real slow, but nothing that bothers me at all... and I am critical of noises my car makes by nature.

Sounds good! Do you mind sharing the service invoice so we can see the part number they’ve used?

Front half shafts have been a recurring problem for years. I had mine replaced under warranty a couple of months ago (2020 S LR+). I feel certain Tesla has been trying to fix this issue, and that mine and new cars have redesigned half shafts because this has been costing Tesla money to fix under warranty.

Can you send me the invoice and parts number as well

Don’t know about this - my late 2023 MXP needed a right front half shaft replacement so whatever parts they were using in Nov 2023 still break down in no time and I drive like a grandpa most of the time. How do I inquire about these uber-halfshafts and their availability? Anyone got a part number?

I had both front halfshafts replaced on my 2021 Plaid in mid-March, same part numbers and no mention of 'extra strength' halfshafts though I did get new nuts and washers which are missing from your invoice. No more 40-50mph vibration on my set.
