If you're leasing, you may never get one.

To reinforce what has already been said:
1. If you buy, it takes about a week to receive the V5C.
2. If you lease, you won't receive it since the car is registered to the leasing company. You cannot take the car abroad unless you obtain from the leasing company a Vehicle on Hire Certificate. The leasing company may charge a small fee for sending you this.
