Coming from Audis, I was always a bit annoyed that the handle on my $80 retractable cargo cover didn't have a panel to block the handle to fully conceal what is under it. To be honest, it's pretty much impossible to see through the handle but I wanted something a little more premium. Turns out VW sells the complete handle assembly for about $10, VW part 5G9-898-799 and it is a perfect fit, with one small modification, you just have to snip off a pin on the inside of the handle that fits in a hole on the VW cover that doesn't exist on the shade that is commonly available for our cars. Another advantage is the quality of the plastics and graining relative to the original piece. Other tip is you need a Torx T10 to tighten the screws that are included with the new handle.
