Want to sync my Android phone's calendar without the car capturing the phone's audio input and output

If I don't establish bluetooth sync between the phone and car, the car won't show the phone's calendar.

If I do establish bluetooth sync, (1) it syncs every time I'm in the car, and (2) the phone won't use the phone's microphone or speaker; it is apparently trying to play and receive audio via the car.

Any suggestions?

A little more context:

I occasionally want to play phone audio through the car, but even when I want to, the difficulty of changing the car's audio source is disincentive enough. I don't have any idea how to cause audio to be passed from the car to the phone, and certainly not audio spoken in the passenger compartment.

Unless the new UI changed this, when pairing your phone in the car you can choose phone/contacts, media, or both (the default is both). If you choose just media, you can access your calendar and stream from your phone, but calls won’t go through the car. At least in theory.

Use your phone's bluetooth settings for your cars connection. You should be able to disable the services you want to stay on the phone.
