What happens if u return your car in 7 days - DMV refund in California?

In this situation you’re counting on Tesla and the California DMV to do the right thing.

When Tesla provided $5k refunds to Model 3 Performance buyers, they initially declines to refund the sales tax portion. Eventually they realized / learned the illegality of that approach and sent checks. A refund includes the sales tax. I assume registration is also included, but can’t claim to know for sure.
