A tweet doesn't dent my universe.
It’s not the tweet. And not the effect of the tweet on the OP. Its the effect of many tweets on the general population and what that does to the reputation of the brand. This is real world stuff, not over-woke BS. It doesn’t matter if I don’t think it makes sense, it’s real.

Demand-throttling. Not a bad tactic.
Seriously? That's about the lamest excuse I've heard!

exactly - even if you disagree basing your decision on a company's CEO, how he tweets or what he eats for breakfast it really doesn't matter. What matters is that it matters for other people, and if there are enough other people it will start to matter to Tesla and matter to you.

No, it won't ever matter.

I was talking to the wife that won't give Elon a cent and is going BMW i4. She had a point that the MX I own is an expensive car and IF Elon were to totally trash the value of the company and make public perception so toxic that owning a Telsa is like supporting Kim Jung Un or Putin, the used values will crash due to lost demand.

Well that would suck a lot and hurt me personally, So Elon, STFU with the stupid conspiracy tweets about Pedos and Gay lovers and work on making your cars and service better.

Match.com is always an option.

My response to the title and similar questions in general:
Do/did you buy all other cars also based on CEO research?
How about all the other products you owe?
I buy things based on their performance/function/intended purpose etc.. :)
To the extent that the corporate officers make their politics known, yes I do take that into consideration. I have Progressive Insurance because I like their politics (and their price); I avoid if possible Home Depot and shop a Lowes because of the politics of Home Depot's founder and largest shareholder. I would never go to an Adelson casino; knowingly purchase anything associated with the Koch brothers, etc. What it comes down to is: all other things being approximately equal, politics can be the deciding factor. As it applies to Tesla, all other things are not equal, so it's Tesla despite Elon, for now.

Who cares what people think about your car. I do not understand why anybody gets so wrapped up in the outside-of-work actions of a man-child CEO of a public company. Whatever the tweet was, it was deleted shortly after posting. It is obvious the guy has some emotional issues and doesn't really think much about what he says until it's said.
I‘m fine with my car but to the extent that Musk’s antics affect sales pose a risk to the company we all stand to be affected by it. Think about it - Tesla’s income drops, they cut back on R&D and stop pushing updates then they start charing more at superchargers to augment their income… It’s easy to go down a slippery slope here but it’s also very very much within the realm of possibility. Like I’ve said before, there are plenty of huge corporations that fell mightily.

People also need to realize that the last year was not a normal or stable market so saying Tesla doesn’t have a demand problem and using the last year as evidence is really no argument at all. In reality, the entire market had a supply problem.

I just read an article about the cuts Elon is making at Twitter and how he’s making them. He is very much a bull in a china shop. I‘m not on Twitter and I really don’t care what happens to it but I don‘t see things going well. It also raises more questions about his leadership at Tesla. Fortunately, he’s not the sole owner of Tesla and there are more checks and balances On his behavior there.

More like a parade of bulls in a China shop which is exactly what that dumpster fire of a company and platform needed.

The party is over at Twitter and if it wasn’t Elon it was going to be someone else.

I only have a few friends who have purchased new or nearly new cars in the last few years. One of them did end up recently going EV. For all of them Elon was a negative factor but not the main deciding factor against getting a Tesla. The more important issue was Tesla's current offerings were not to their tastes/current budget/living situation. My friend who recently went EV got an Ioniq 5. Model Y was never even on her list, I believe mostly because of the driver controls.

I am sure for many people Elon has become so toxic that Tesla is off the table, but I don't have a good sense for what percentage of the population that actually is. I don't do any kind of bumper stickers, but I have though it would be funny to put a "Sorry About Elon" or an "Elon Sucks" bumper sticker on my Model 3 :)
If they want to make a poor choice over a perceived political bias then it's their loss. Does not bother me at all.
