Why are SC distances in the app so inaccurate, sometimes?

I was reminded last night of an instance where I was in Grant's Pass and saw Bandon was about 97 miles on the car's nav. It turned out to be much farther. Last night from home I checked Mt Shasta- 97 miles. It's 149 just to get to Redding. Google Maps has it as a 3 hr drive, plus. Eureka is correctly listed at 11 miles, Crescent City at 57.

Yes, as @ltphoto was saying, straight line. To elaborate, it would be incredibly laggy and unresponsive if the computer was having to try to do a navigation route in the background for every Supercharger as it was trying to bring up the list. Instead, they have the X and Y coordinates for each one, and it's easy to just do a simple calculation with the car's current X and Y position, to calculate the difference and compute a quick direct diagonal.
