The OEM tyres that Tesla installed on the Model Y is much narrower than the rim.
It looks strange but I suspect its for efficiency reasons.

The OEM tyre is 255/34R19 104W. Hankook Ventus S1 evo³
The Gemini Rim is 19x9.5

Ive been playing with some tyre sizes:

A hypothetical 275/40R19 is slightly shorter by 7mm but wider by 20mm and speedo error: At indicated speed of 110kmh the actual speed is 109 kmh

A 275/45R19 is taller by 18mm and when indicated speed is 110kmh the actual speed is 113kmh.
Hankook Ventus S1 evo³ comes in this size but with an increased load and speed rating of 108Y

Any insights would be appreciated.
I'd imagine range would be negatively affected.

I like using this tool, in case you haven't come across it. I've set it up to my vanilla MYLR's OEM tyre (255/45R19 x 9.5ET45). As an upsize, It recommends 265/45R19 on the same wheel. Speed offset is +1% here, but my MYLR reports approx 2% above GPS speed anyway, so should be perfectly fine.

Looking at wider options, 275/40 is a closer match for OEM than 275/45. I wouldn't go any wider.

Expect range to reduce in any case.

If you're concerned about rim protection (ie., the tyre sidewall touches pavement well before the rim would), note that different tyre manufacturers even for the same size of tyre offer different rim protection. I run Michelin PS4S on my other car, which is better in this regard compared to the OEM Pirelli.
