Widest 4S tire on stock M3P 20x9

I tried searching but couldn’t find consensus for a stock M3P.

I’m pretty sure I want the Michelin 4S as my next set of tires but I am unsure on how wide I can go without rubbing issues on my completely stock 2023 M3P.

Does anyone here have experience with a wider 4S on the stock uberturbines?

I've heard issues with rubbing on the front going larger than 255/35/20. Might be able to fit larger with a spacer, but not sure

Wider is not always better if what you care about is performance.

Tire rack actually ran faster with 225's on a 9" wheel than 245's. You'll take quite a range hit with wider tires as well.

Yes, 245/35/20 will get rid of the stretch and won't make your overall diameter too tall.

Hmmm. This is not making my decision any easier. So a 255 will give more overall grip but steering will be more lethargic? Maybe a 245 is the perfect compromise?

Wider doesn’t automatically mean more grip.

Where did you get that information? The Tire Rack test above shows the exact opposite, that a tire that wide on a 9" rim will have less grip.

I guess I misinterpreted this in the article…

“Where every other tire on the 9" wheel was responsive and free, the 245 was pushy, and the steering was slower than the 245 on the 8. It had great traction and was very stable, making our drivers feel like they could be at 100% throttle any time they weren't braking. This combination set the fastest single lap, and it was a close second to the 225 on the 9 in average lap time. Average Dry Lap: 100.93%”

Has anyone used both the 245 and the 255 on the 4S (or any other tire that is the same) for this wheel?
