Will New Maxwell Battery Tech Eliminate Battery Cooling System?

If so, seems like a huge opportunity to further simplify and reduce production costs.
I presume you mean the cooling system in the car? Well, no, there will still be a cooling system, even if it is re-sized for different demands. Remember, the cooling system also HEATS the battery cells, which is even more critical for fast charging in the Winter.

Further, Tesla collects waste heat from the battery and power electronics to heat the cabin. If the battery makes less heat, they may need to generate more in the power electronics to meet needs. None of this is known yet though, so have confidence that Tesla will make the best engineering trade-offs. That is their core-competency.

Cheers!

Nissan thought eliminating the TMS would be a great way to cut costs and weight, too.

You see what that got them.

Right now, a good liquid TMS is the largest part of what separates serious EVs from also rans. (Along with good DCFC rates and networks.)

Maybe someday it won't matter, but I doubt we'll be using a lithium ion pack at that point...
