Will Tesla be adding youtube music anytime soon?

Now that Tesla added Apple Music, has anyone heard if they'll be adding Youtube Music?

Tidal doesn't have the same library span and Spotify's "investments" in particular individuals had me cancel their service. However, the new Apple Music is ... ok.

Youtube music is tied to youtube premium - so you get ad free youtube and all the other benefits that go along with that. I can't compare it to the other services as I've never used them.

Another key difference with YouTube music is when artists sometimes pull their music from Spotify or Tidal, it will remain on YouTube music if individuals have uploaded it.

Tesla sometimes telegraphs feature changes in their software updates with inactive code. Some people like Green will see these and post about them on Twitter. I haven't seen one for YouTube music, though I honestly have not been looking either.

I did read that in adding Apple Music they had to completely re-write the foundation of the music UI, so that it can search the music service you have selected for example. Now that they have that working I would not be surprised if ALL the other music services and maybe even podcast services start arriving on people's vehicles.

Sure would be nice to have a YouTube that streams the videos and then continues to play just the audio from them when you put the car in gear. Most YT videos are talking heads anyway. Could use the travel time to absorb some of those.

Would be great if they did, I ended up on YT Music after Pandora funkery with my account and while the value of no-ads in YouTube Premium and a streaming service is hard to beat.

That’s also false about Apple Music. It’s webUI. Nothing new. It’s actually worse than Spotify performance wise.

YouTube won’t be added unless they do an App Store.

With the release of apple music I thought Tesla also revamped the music player to be all html instead of service api calls. If true it should be much easier to add ytm and other services.

Unfortunately, currently there is no YouTube Music API for Tesla to use. Hopefully this will change and Google steps up.

YouTube Music must have a stable protocol for the mobile app to use. Google could let Tesla use it or build a new one.

No. I’m guessing that was part of Elon and Tim Cook’s personal chat they had. Apple Music happened the following month.
