Tesla wants to replace my Model Y Standard Range battery pack with an LFP pack

One bonus of the lfp is that 100% charging doesn't hurt the battery. Not only will you get 10 miles greater range, you can charge to 100% every day which will get you close to the long range 80% daily charge range. I think this is a win win.

    Condensation in tail lights verdict??

I had this on my rear passenger side starting about a month ago. I found this thread and decided not to pursue it. THEN, the rear passenger light (the portion on the lift gate), stopped working altogether. Service came out and replaced then entire rear passenger side light (liftgate and...

I've seen two now in Southern California driving around. Sure look cool in person.

Did I damage my vehicle trying to use this lift puck?

I doubt it will damage it at all. Once you start lifting, the pucks tend to deform quite a bit. The extra bit in the central column will likely compress fairly easy once under the car's weight. Hard to imagine it would damage anything.

    Yet another 2023 Model Y road-trip experience

if you look at the bottom left of your screen under the visualization of the car you will typically see your radio controls. Swipe these controls to the left of the screen and they will be replaced with your trip meter which will show, among other things, your Wh/mi for the current drive and...

    Yet another 2023 Model Y road-trip experience

From the arrival percentages, it seems like you could have saved yourself time by not charging to 98% before you left initially and then not staying so long at the second charger either. Once you're more confident arriving at around 10% you'll see that the car charges faster to get from there...

Will Tesla be adding youtube music anytime soon?

It would be nice too now that podcasts are going to migrate to Youtube music... considering the holiday update is rumored to be adding apple podcasts to our vehicles. We android users/Youtube subscribers exist!

    Stop Alert Overfiring

Wow. You all must drive/stop really close to the vehicle ahead if this is happening to you. I've never seen this in the almost 3 years I've had my Model Y. I only see this when parallel parking or when pulling up to a wall for parking. Do they not teach the stopping distance rule any more...

    80% to 100% how long

It will take SIGNIFICANTLY longer to charge from 80-100% than 60-80%. Somewhere after 90% it will drop the amperage down from 48. I've seen it take about 1.5 hours for 90-100% alone. Unless you really need that extra 10%, I wouldn't bother. Whenever I do a road trip where I know I will...

Supercharger - Baker, CA - Expansion

I was through there over Thanksgiving weekend. It DOES say 250kw max and 45 but none of the new V3s were open. The entire back half of the lot (with all the new V3s) was still taped off and non-operational. Both times I was through here over the weekend (going to LV and then returning to CA)...

Supercharger - Yermo, CA - Sunrise Canyon Rd (LIVE 25 May 2023, 40 V3 stalls)

Good to know. I had about 15% when I got to Baker on the way back to CA and didn't want to risk Yermo being offline. True, there's the Eddie World station in Yermo as well but that station is just as slow as Baker and has very few stalls so I opted for Baker.

    2023 Holiday Update Wishlist

Yes. Youtube music app would be great. Ideally, open up an app storefront so all these niche programs can simply be made by the companies themselves. It doesn't make sense to have Tesla working on all these individual apps.

    Supercharger - Baker, CA (LIVE / EXPANDED 40 V2 + 20 V3 stalls)

I was here over thanksgiving weekend. It's disappointing that all the new V3s (the entire back half of the site) are not operational yet. The site was very busy both Friday morning and Saturday morning when I went through there. I got lucky and didn't have to share on Saturday with a max of...

    Thoughts on cabin carbon filters?

I've gone through quite a few cabin filters between our Model 3 and Model Y. I usually just buy the regular ones. I DID once buy some more expensive ones that had little carbon balls visible on one side -- those didn't make any difference. I second the suggestion of the foam spray -- I've...

Will the J1772 Tesla Wall Charger charge both my 2023 Model Y and my wife's 2021 BMW 330e J1772 equipped car?

There's a pretty extensive review video posted earlier in this thread -- he loved it. I'm not sure what other users are going to add. It either works or it doesn't -- isn't that pretty much all we ask of these things? Form factor and feature-wise it is exactly the same as the gen 3 Tesla Wall...

Does everyone use Time of Use Electricity rates?

I don't use TOU. My electrical rates are based on usage. I don't recall the specifics but I get a certain number of Kwh at $.15, the next tier is $.17 and then the last tier is $.20. Every month I make it into the last (most expensive) tier with varying amounts. My utilities' TOU rates are...

AC vent constant medium/high pitch whistling noise when climate is on, normal?

I just experienced this after doing a cabin filter change. I've done this 3-4 times before but this was the first time with the whistling. I seem to have solved it by opening the access panel where the filters go and moving them slightly and closing everything up again. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Climate control sluggish on auto

I always use auto as well. When the temperatures get into the triple digits though, I find that bringing up the AC controls and tapping the passenger side vent to turn that on makes the AC MUCH more effective. Otherwise, it just comes out of the driver's side and it takes a lot longer for the...

    Wood trim covers

Back in 2020, I put a cover over the dashboard wood in our Model 3. After 6 months it completely warped and no longer covered all of the wood. The manufacturer (RPM Tesla) refused to do anything about it so I ended up removing it. The adhesive removed bits of the wood with it and ruined the...

Acceleration Boost (AB) or 20" induction wheels for 2023 new Model Y LR

I wouldn't pay $2,000 for the inductions but that's just personal preference. As others have said, when I bought mine in 2021, it was $9,000 more for performance. I bought aftermarket 19" wheels within a few weeks of ownership and then bought AB about 9 months later. The acceleration boost is...

    DIY tire rotation

129 lb feet. I also do it myself. I got a new set of tires a few months back. Had to go back the next day because they didn't fasten the stem properly so I lost 10lbs over night in one tire. THEN, they damaged the rim when they were fixing the stem. It took a week to get the rim repaired...

"Keep the Tesla app running for the best phonekey experience"

If you close the app entirely, the car may not recognize you when you go to open the doors and you may have to open the app for the functionality to work. If you're ok with this, close the app. Except for some very specific and limited circumstances, I don't know why you'd close the app.

Model Y Glass Roof TOO HOT?

I'll also point out, since you're new to the car, that in hot days here, the AC isn't very effective unless I manually go into the controls and touch the passenger vent to turn it on. Obviously, if you have a front seat passenger, you don't have to do this. By default, it will only turn on the...

    Lose screw on new car

If it's what everyone has been having problems with, no, a bigger screw or plastic rivet won't work. Inside the bumper there is what is called a "captive nut." Basically a nut that the bolt threads into and allows it to tighten. What happens is that it breaks loose inside and is no longer...

Add Wall Connector to Tesla App

I think we are confusing a lot of things here. Yes, you connect the connector to WiFi during setup which sets the AMP limit and allows the connector to update the firmware. MYLR now charging to higher range

It all has to do with the BMS calibration. This changes over time, changes after certain discharge situations. After seeing how wildly our battery estimate changed, I stopped worrying about it. We could have a week where the 100% miles number was very low, followed by a few days of driving...

2170 vs 4680/Standard vs Long Range

As others have said here, there is no benefit to YOU to getting the SR version. The 4680 is typically just better because of battery density and manufacturing cost (which benefits the manufacturer). You'd be selling yourself short by going with the shorter range. Though you'll typically...

Door cannot be closed as window is stuck open

I had this issue on our Model 3 after I changed the puddle lights in the passenger door. The connector for the light wasn't all the way clicked in. Crazily, this causes the window to go up and down that tiny bit. Once it was properly connected, the window went down the fraction of an inch...

    Goodyear Electric Drive GT

20,000 on the AS 4s. Ended up getting some type of wood or stick stuck in the sidewall of one of them. I still had tread left on them but, rather than just replace the one tire (they didn't have AS 4s in stock) or two tires, I decided to bite the bullet and do all 4. I loved the Michelins...

I just had these installed. I can report back later with an update -- it was surprisingly hard to find any reviews for these tires online. My initial impression is that they are quieter than the Pilot Sport AS 4s that they replaced... but that could be a placebo effect.
