Windows Squeaky after Rain

Driver and passenger side window makes squeaky noise after rain. Has anyone else had this issue?

Contacted Tesla about this and they mentioned it will dry up and go away but it keeps making the noise whenever there is a small amount of rain!

What is this "rain" you speak of?

Ahhh, my desert dwelling friend...maybe a picture will help...

Yes!

Just picked up my M3P on 6/19, and drove it In the rain for the first time yesterday. Both my drivers side front and rear window squeak when they’re wet.

Not a big deal, but my wife gave me a look like “Really?”. I guess she does have a point. Seems like something that shouldn’t be an issue on a $60k car.

Anyone have a good fix?

As a fellow Washingtonian, let’s observe a moment of silence for the rains of the past.
I understand that your area is going to mimic the desert Southwest over the next few days. My condolences.

Getting back to the topic...

Wax the windows... My X squeaked and when I went in for an unrelated SC item, I added it to my list and they lubed the tracks and applied a spray wax to the window. At a later ranger appointment, the ranger did it again for a different window and said that he/they apply "Banana Spray Wax" (not the Chemical Guys stuff).

Ever since then, I use Griot's spray wax or speed shine on my windows (inside and out) and it works flawlessly (in addition to the hydrophobic properties).
Make sure you test whatever product you are using on a small section if you have tinting.

If it makes you feel any better it's happening on my 155k car.

Doesnt look like anyone has given a solution here and so here is one.

Buy Silicone Spray (WD-40 make one called specialist, I believe this is available worldwide).

Give the seals (especially the left, right and bottom seals) a good spray, inside the seal itself and the outside. Rub it down with a cloth and give the window some movement up and down. If its still there, give it another spray and repeat the process. Do this on all windows.

If the squeak is still there, repeat the following day (sometimes it takes some time for the rubber to absorb the lubricant - it will go, I assure you. Issue is caused by dry rubber seals, also happens on new cars, usually related to a change in temperatures. This issue is also related to squeaky doors when they're closed - issue is the same thing, as the window lowers when open the doors and then closes - that window movement will make it sound like the car door is the issue - it isnt.

Of course you can give Tesla a call - they'll either do the same thing or replace the whole window assembly - which is pointless and the squeak will come back without the proper lubricant.

Doesn’t that leave silicon on the windows every time you open / close them?

Do your Crocs squeak when wet? Does your driver's side wiper chatter when it gets below freezing?

I don't believe the price of the car has much to do with materials properties. Many more expensive cars do the same. If it really bothers you try some Gummipflege or 303 Aerospace protectant. Either will also retard the degredation of rubber parts due to UV and ozone exposure.

I've found if I wear my socks with Crocs, the squeak goes away.... But then so does my chance of getting any that night.
