In winter I precondition my Model Y via the Tesla app each time I drive for 15 to 30 minutes even if the Model Y is not plugged in (this uses up to 4% battery to precondition this way). I set the driver's seat heater to High, then set the seat heater to Low once I start driving. My Model Y does not have the heated steering wheel. I park inside my garage so I have never had to clear snow and ice from the Model Y. I tested the Maximum Defroster setting on the Tesla app and on the Climate Control screen (the windshield icon turns red) and found the blower on this setting to be annoying, loud.
