The wireless charger in my four-month-old model Y does charge my caseless iPhone mini, but very slowly. After I twice accidentally left the phone in the car on the charging pad after short local trips, I made a command decision never to use the wireless charging around town. As said, the achieved charging rate is very low anyway, and my iPhone does not run out of charge in a day anyway.
And, so far as I know, leaving my (key) iPhone in the car is the equivalent of leaving a conventional key-ignition car parked outside the convenience store with the key in the ignition.
I do think I may use it when I take a long trip in the car.
