Think about a hotel for a moment; you have a lot of public spaces (ballrooms, conference rooms, exercise rooms, lounges, restaurants, bars, pools, etc.), various "support spaces" (offices, staff rooms, laundries, etc.) and well-lit exterior spaces (parking lots, pools, walkways, etc.). Hardly surprising that hotels, esp resort hotels, have a very high energy:room ratio.
My experience has been more on the retail side of the world. I'm not sure that a Starbucks, Papa John's, or Walgreen's has a lot of overbuilt electrical capacity. Enough, perhaps, for a car or two, but for a bank of 10 charging stations? Hmm.
