Bubbling Seat: I purchased Tesla Y less than 5 months ago and the seat has bubbles. Tesla is refusing to fix it w/o pay. Did anyone get this resolved?

Just tell them that you wipe after every use. That is even more than "every so often"

"Pull Over Safely - Vehicle Shutting Down" - Car Totally Disabled

Is there a reason you didn't pull over safely in those 30 seconds rather than having it stop in the middle of the street?
  3. D

Pull over safely, vehicle is shutting down.

Yes, that is a more specific term, but if you want to use specific terms, then you should call it an IC engine (or ICE) to distinguish it from a non-IC engine. Regardless, that doesn't change the fact that saying it is not an engine is incorrect. That would be being dictionary inaccurate.

Pull over safely, vehicle is shutting down.

That would be false. Engines: "a machine for converting any of various forms of energy into mechanical force and motion" Merriam-Webster The more you know!

Porsche Whistleblower: “60% of all delivered Taycan have battery issues“

exactly. note that the author of the article kept saying •”must” when the above says “should”, “if possible”, “is ideal”, “please consider”. there is a difference this improper editorializing and getting the facts wrong shows the author is peddling fake news and is not particularly credible.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

If you actually believe that Tesla will be a trillion dollar company, than you should sell everything you have and load up on TSLA. Where else are you going to find a 30x return like that?

24,500 is no more suspicious than 24,542 or 24,442. The odds are 1/100 that a number ends in 00 or 01 or 02. No, it was listed as conservative because it only includes cars that were delivered and paperwork delivered. So what everyone else in the industry does as standard practice, Tesla views...

The Not too hard to understand. They gave and reaffirmed guidance of 80-90k cars delivered. The price had that expectation built in. This result and the expectation they will do the same or a bit better means they will likely miss the low end of the guidance.
  10. D

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

it really depends on the guidance, doesn't it? The guidance they confirmed after Q2 was 80-90k for the year. If they do 25k in Q3 and have guidance that says they will 30k in Q4, then they will be in the middle of the yearly guidance, which would be ok. If they steer to the low end of the...

Where does Google say that Apple's share of the market is 18% globally and declining? Their Q1 sales were 18% but that is not their share of the market. As for your Tesla numbers, that also is not share of market, but sales within a period.

That is because Tesla still isn't done with the second step of the first master plan. The second step was to create an affordable EV. The Model 3 is that car as it comes in around the average price of a new car fits the bill of an affordable car, and with the number of pre-orders should be...

How does it show up in SGA? The accounting is the price of the vehicles sold as revenue less the COGS to get to GM. SG&A is an entirely different bucket. If it weren't, every company would shove discounts into SG&A as a way to pump up their gross margins.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

Well summarized. GAAP profitability is an interesting milestone if it is the beginning of a series of quarters of profitability. If it is a one-off, it gets discount accordingly. Besides, didn't TSLA have one quarter of profitability a bit ago?

Conservatives should be big fans of Tesla

Maybe many conservatives don't believe that rich people should get subsidized for conspicuous consumption of a car that goes 0-60 in under 3 seconds Despite the characterizations in the press, the average conservative family makes less than a liberal family - so it isn't about supporting the 1...

SolarCity names Radford Small CFO I agree. Hiring Radford as a Small CFO indicates confidence that the deal will go through. I haven't heard the title of "Small CFO" before, but it makes sense to hire one if you believe the merger will go through. You don't need a regular CFO in the interim...

Reply to moderator edit: The point is whether the quarters result are indicative of a fundamental change or a one time event in order to do a cap raise. An extreme example is that Tesla can easily be gaap profitable if it stops all investments. So being gaap profitable really means nothing if...

One quarter does not a trend make. There are reports of large discounts to move cars, trying to get people from the 3 reservation to the S, pleading to cut back expenses this quarter to show those meanies on Wall Street. Well, if the US adopts similar incentives of 50% discounts vs. alternatives and other benefits, maybe it can do it in 15 years, because the cars still are expensive and out of reach of many people. Model S crashes into gym

Have the logs been released or is this "trust us, we looked at the logs". Many companies say things like "we looked at our data and this couldn't have happened". What did GM first say when the claims of ignition lock or when other companies were accused of sudden acceleration issues?

Some context for this. First commercial solar cells were available in the 1950s. But they were expensive: $300/watt. The major change in the cost structure for solar cells happened in the 1970s. The cost went from $100/watt to $20/watt. The major driver/researcher for that? Exxon.

    Uber AP ahead of Tesla

Why? Isn't it about the state of the art rather than sales? Besides not "anyone " can buy a car from Tesla. You need serious money or credit to afford a $70k car.

Chevy Bolt - 200 mile range for $30k base price (after incentive)

Well, that would explain how they only managed to sell 9,000,000 last year and have 3 years of consecutive sales growth. All the haters are buying the cars and not driving them to keep them off the road.
  34. D

Chevy Bolt - 200 mile range for $30k base price (after incentive)

The rules for the "business model" have existed for a long time and GM, Ford and others have to follow them too. Just because a new player wants to do something different, it doesn't mean that they are entitled to. But nice attempt to blame GM for it.

TSLA will probably go up on this news, and potentially a lot. That may embolden more investors to push for the classic "stick to the knitting" strategy and nail the Model 3 and get some early momentum on the Model Y. Those would all be great things for Tesla and great things for the EV industry.

Can they do this? Renege on an email about Ranger visit charges?

Your ranger agreement is the agreement. It doesn't matter what an employee says since they don't have the authority to change the terms. They can do things for good will purposes, which they have done, so you should be happy.

PSA, Supercharging stations are NOT free parking spots!

You are right, they are not free parking spots. People paid for them as part of their car purchase You also have no idea if the person had a really bad burrito and is dealing with it. I really wish people would be more tolerant and positive rather than casting asparagus at people.

Confirmation bias. I doubt Morgan Freeman's lack of understanding is at all correlated with whether or not institutional investors who drive the stock understand this. Besides, didn't Joseph Kennedy observe that when everyone is giving you a tip about a stock, it is a sure sign to sell?
