Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

Other than a minor glitch that had me worried (as I was driving to pick up my car at the Ottawa location, I got a reminder text from Tesla for my appointment to pick up my car in Quebec City! Just a glitch though, all was well)... my delivery happened yesterday. Was quite busy with deliveries...

Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

After a few pushouts of my EDD, I just received my delivery date today for a week from now (Ottawa showroom). I see the supercharging credit for trade in is applied too now.

Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

For those (like me) that had "bait and switch" concerns, going from a January trade in number on the estimate, to the final, Telsa actually followed up with me pretty well on my concerns, and gave me a pretty detailed explanation for the difference, in short, the "estimate" is made on market...

Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

2019 SR+ 95,000 km, good condition. One fully repaired accident (fender bender rear quarter panel replaced no frame damage), original trade in estimate pre purchase 26,200, one month and 2-3 thousand km later 20,450 formal offer.

Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

Like most everyone above me, my dates also shifted right to 12-26 March, after I accepted the message about Tesla Vision and one about cars being sourced both from Fremont and Shanghai and I might get either. I got a message in the app saying my VIN was assigned but it's not showing on the...

Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

Well, second time round in the Model 3 waiting room :)! SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room was my first, now a little under five years later, and it's time to upgrade from my 2019 SR+... Ordered 23 Jan 2024, Ultra Red LR, nothing else (black interior, Photon wheels). EDD like I think most...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

FSD "feature complete" defined by Elon on the call: seems to be Level 3 autonomy, working most of the use cases. Has this been stated this clearly before? Seems a lot of people assumed Level 5.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

To some extent there already is, if I remember correctly, about 50% of Canadian EV sales are in one province, Quebec, which has about 25% of the population, so the uptake here is about three times that of the average of the rest of the country. And I think BC is over-represented also. Good...

    Papafox's Daily TSLA Trading Charts

My understanding: Posts are marked Today and Yesterday relative to when you access them, by day of week for the (I think) four or five days before that (i.e. the latest occurrence of that day of the week), and then by date prior. So if you look at something currently marked yesterday in a week...

Could Tesla Model 3 Performance Match Taycan’s 24-Hr Endurance Record?

Given the different missions and buyer profiles between a P3 and the Taycan I would not be surprised if the Porsche is pushing their battery much harder than the Tesla for this track demonstration on the assumption a Porsche buyer doing Track work won’t mind killing the battery every so often...

Charger installation - best way to adpat knockout to 3/4" conduit

There is a YouTube Tesla wall connector installation video where there were detailed specifics on this using a Rigid Pipe part. Look at 19m55s time index. I couldn’t find the part at my local hardware stores and ended up using 1” EMT and that worked great for me.

Musk Offer’s New Details on Roadster’s SpaceX Package

It is perhaps possible the that car can be street-legal while still having something in it that you can't use on the street. Just don't charge the tanks. Anyhow, another constraint is that most places, pressure vessels, such as the accumulator tank for a cold gas thruster, are (in my country...

Musk Offer’s New Details on Roadster’s SpaceX Package

So... I'm just putting my "hypothetical" cap on... but instead of saying how it can't be possible, why not work backwards from what we know to what would be possible... just to see if we can't make a fun prediction - what's does Elon say, work from first principles? Even with the stated...

Trust broken - Tesla doesn't honor what it says

Honestly I think the whole "buyer gets something too" is what breaks the referral program. It means people buying who know about it will dig up anyone's code to try and get something free, those that don't find out about it until after the fact will regret that they didn't, and generally it...

We really need multiple waypoints in the Nav

Featuritis ... Feature creep - Wikipedia ... if you can't get a feature in a system in a way the user can access simply and intuitively, then its rarely worth the complexity it brings, and can actually detract from overall utility once there's a bunch of such "features" layered on top of each...

Service and communication (out of main)

Well, maybe things are getting a little better... I just emailed the web store earlier this afternoon (yes, I know, different from the car service side of things, but still, my previous email to them seemed to go into a black hole) to ask for a copy of my receipt so I could submit a rebate claim...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

There are quite a few places that rely on diesel generation for power to remote villages and such - being able to drop in a pre-fab solar plant has quite the market potential I think for this application, I have to wonder how TCO compares to diesel generators once installed cost, fuel cost, fuel...

Service and communication (out of main)

Perhaps there is some paradigm shift here to overcome - when I talk to colleagues, most of whom are engineers so should be able to realize this already - there is often a little bit of an ‘ah-ha’ moment when I point out the preventive maintenance savings. So maybe there is just comfort in...

People complaining about price drops are asking Tesla to sell fewer cars.

I don't read that as the original argument at all. Demand isn't a binary thing as the internet and pundits seem to treat it (Demand vs No Demand), there's a demand curve and its elastic. How elastic I don't think anyone but Tesla has good data for but I think we can bet their data on demand...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So one very interesting thing for the new Canadian price on the Performance model for people in Quebec - the Provincial rebate here is C$8,000 if the MSRP is under C$75,000 and steps down to C$3,000 if the MSRP is between C$75,000 and C$125,000. The Performance M3 has a Canadian MSRP of...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Likely their marginal cost on the higher models is significantly smaller than the premium they are charging, so it's an optimization problem of lowering the price on the higher model may shift orders enough to the more expensive product to recover the lost revenue, my guess is they are adjusting...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Canadian price doesn't seem to have moved for the SR+ (probably because the current Canadian Federal C$5000 incentive that caps our at C$55K price point either keeps it competitive at just under the limit, or possibly it was already squeezed down a bit to qualify) - but the other two models are...

Bill of sale modified after being signed. Is that normal?

I think its a bit unfair to say that this is normal from Tesla, while your experience may have been unfortunate, I don't think its typical. My experience was fantastic. The rate on for my loan was just slightly lower than what I had been told to expect, there was only one minor paperwork issue...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is pretty much exactly why I'm not bothered by the "the new XYZ EV is a Tesla Killer" thing... the very expression is de-facto recognition that the Tesla is the market leader best-in-EV's to beat. If pundits are saying this Porsche is the underdog that just maybe can wrest the EV...

    Noob Buying Questions

If you like the "dealer experience" you could just visit the showroom... there's no haggling though you won't have that dealership pleasure, your substitute "did I really get a good deal?" anxiety comes from seeing the price changes on the website after you order - but these are much more...

    Hidden Profiles - Why?

Forgive me if this has been hashed out before, but in case it hasn't, I'm wondering what purpose is served by allowing people to hide their post history with a hidden profile? Having just encountered a post where someone is complaining about Tesla doing something legally dubious (in both the...

My experience at the Jaguar and Audi Dealerships today for their EVs

soooo... I was thinking the other day making one of my last visits to my local gas station that when electric cars take 5-10 times as long to "fill up" there won't be enough room at "corner gas" stations for them to have enough stalls to stay in business... but now the answer becomes clear...

My experience at the Jaguar and Audi Dealerships today for their EVs

I had very similar experiences with Honda (looking at the Clarity PHEV), Nissan, Kia and Hyundai inquiring about their BEVs and such before deciding on the Tesla... They (except Nissan who was luke-warm and told me all about the 6 month wait to get one) were universally uninformed and...

    Tesla online store sucks!

This... And This... Ordered a whole bunch of stuff (hub kit for taking off the aero covers, full set of mats all over, Level 2 charger, and a phone cable) just a week after I put my car order in. Three weeks after car order, I have my car... but no floor mats, no charger, etc. I did get the...

    Upgrading M3 SR+ Sound System

I'd love it if Tesla offered a Service Centre installed upgrade to the full Premium Audio package for SR+. If it was relatively reasonably priced I'd probably go for it. It would seem to me that with a lot of the speakers already there (and they way they seem to do things I'd bet even for...

I'm speechless, how can Tesla do this?

Yes, that's what drop shipping is, coming direct from the OEM supplier when/if Tesla is the reseller. However, it looks so far like everything is coming from Fremont CA. Might also just be a holdover from before Tesla's high margin premium to mass market car maker transition.

I'm speechless, how can Tesla do this?

So the thing that actually has me ... not speechless but, mildly surprised... is that I bought a bunch of stuff from the Tesla store, all at once for my new M3, and they appear (so far, with 1 item received and 2 items shipped) to be shipping it to me one individual item at a time... at a time...

HW2.5 even after April 12th build date

No idea but if its not any issue with HW3 and they just want to use up HW2.5 stock then it does kinda make sense you would see it on the lowest trim levels of the least expensive cars, as the low margin cars are likely to have lower uptake of the rather pricey FSD option.

Trust broken - Tesla doesn't honor what it says

Yea, don't misread me, I'm not suggesting that you don't have reason to be irritated by this! I'm just saying maybe don't let it be a "Trust broken" .. prevents you from enjoying what you got over a few bucks of supercharging. Service should be good, accurate and consistent. But high growth...

Your Model 3 Standard Range (is being software limited)

I don't get this. If someone wanted all the stuff in an SR+, then pay for an SR+, if you don't and don't pay for it, then why get torqued when what amounted to a "free trial" expired. Why not just treat the fact that the leather and possible later ability to unlock a whole trim level is an...

Trust broken - Tesla doesn't honor what it says

There is quite a bit of difference between "not honouring" something that is part of their policy, and this, which I think amounts to one rep that probably misspoke AGAINST what is clearly their policy and making a big deal of it. When I ordered I wasn't aware of the referral (which are kind of...

HW2.5 even after April 12th build date

Now that worries me, I have a VIN of 414xxx, build of 1 June, and was told by my DS it "has the new chip" when I asked about HW3. I guess I'll just have to wait and see when I get it. I have AP but not FSD so like you, I wouldn't return over it, but it would be nice to get the latest.
