Door handle replacement - 2013 MS

So, my 2013 MS driver's side door handle finally gave up the ghost. As you can see in the photo, it is misaligned and hanging up on the rear part of the opening. I guess my options are replace it myself or pay Tesla to do it. How hard is it to replace? Do I want to (can I?) use Gen 3...

Tesla updated their supercharger site for 2020

With the latest crop of Model 3 owners turning blue holding their collective breaths, I will repeat my annual caution - the Tesla "coming soon" locations are completely disconnected from reality. Don't depend on them. It's more like a vague intent map. I won't go into chapter and verse of why...

More range is always better. You really don't want to be in the situation where you say "wish I'd gotten the LR".

Service Center - Lynnwood, WA (Upcoming)

Their map shows the Renton Service Center but not Lynnwood. Though, this is not a surprise to me given how disconnected/delayed their web site is from reality. I couldn't find anything that described what services they do. I presume that things like body work aren't in every location. Anyone...

New Supercharger locations in 2017, WA

Gasp! 2019. I'm so shocked. Interestingly they actually dropped the Wenatchee "coming whenever" spot so there must be a real person cleaning up the map. But, I predict that 2019 will bring a couple of SCs in locations that were never on the map and most of the "Target 2019 opening" locations...

Have to agree with that. It seems like there is always some new or prospective owner that actually believes Tesla's map about future SCs.

Why is Tesla putting a supercharger in Seattle?

Northgate is about to undergo a huge redevelopment including 1200 housing units and a hotel around a "central park" area. I'd be surprised to see a supercharger on the actual site any time soon. Plus, the lightrail station will be opening "real soon now" - kind of on Tesla Supercharger Time...

New Supercharger locations in 2017, WA

Congrats. You will love it. All the grey supercharger locations in the Northwest on the Tesla supercharger map are listed as "target opening in 2018", last year they were listed as "target opening in 2017". Interestingly, several of the superchargers that were actually built in the last 12...

Supercharger - Issaquah, WA (LIVE Oct 2018, 8 Urban stalls)

Hopefully, this is a novelty that wears off for those that have home charging. Supposedly, with free unlimited supercharging going away in new vehicles, Tesla is billing for parking (ie overstaying on a charger). But I wonder how many Teslas are actually being delivered without unlimited. It...

Freddies is the obvious choice given the number of SCs at their stores but based on how the Leavenworth SC happened, I'd say you are better off throwing darts at a map!

Crossing fingers as well. But, it doesn't "feel" like a supercharger. TruFrame seems to be a general contractor putting up industrial buildings.

Moving from SoCal -- traffic insights in seattle

Are you opposed to the EV syrcharge in general? I think it reasonable that every car/driver helps defray the cost of the roads. As I understand it, $50 of the EV surcharge goes towards EV infrastructure.

    Supercharger - Vancouver, WA

I'm pretty sure that comment was based on looking at the tesla supercharger map that says "end of 2018". We all know how reliable THAT is. supercharge.info doesn't show a construction icon there.
  24. PhilBa

    Supercharger - Ellensburg, WA

Yes, that "coming soon" location has been there a while. Last year it said "target opening 2017", now it says "target opening 2018". Just like all the other gray locations in WA on the Tesla Map. I highly discourage the holding of one's breath on that. My point is we all need to let Tesla...

Thanks to everyone that has called in broken SC stalls. I hope people also call into to complain when they have to wait because it's full. Cancelled our 90D

We placed an order for an X 90D 6 seater 2 days before Elon's P100D announcement. We asked if a 100D could be made available and were told no. After mulling it over, we cancelled today because I really don't want yesterday's battery. I've owned a P85 MS for 3+ years and watched as the batteries...

90D with 5 seats confirmed for nearly 2 months. What's going on?

We ordered a 90D (right before the P100D announce). They told us that the 5 seater was all the way out in 2017.
  31. PhilBa

When will 100+ KWh battery become available?

We ordered an X 90D 3 days ago. When I called up they seemed like they were scrambling - admitted that Elon's announcement caught them unaware. They said they'd get back to us in a couple of days.

Washington State Good To Go Pass - best installation location?

Yes, the flex pass needs to be visible so an officer can determine if you are cheating by operating a single occupancy vehicle in the HOV lane with HOV mode set.

$150 fee applies to many, many vehicles

I think you are assuming uniform means per gallon of gas purchased. It could just as easily mean per mile driven or per vehicle. Also, by it's nature a gas tax discriminates against lower mileage vehicles so one could even call the gas tax regressive and discriminatory towards lower income...

Washington State Good To Go Pass - best installation location?

Not to mention the requirement that the flex pass must be visible to traffic officers.
  36. PhilBa

$150 fee applies to many, many vehicles

Well, I guess we disagree. I doubt there is a single legislator or state official that has even thought about your situation let alone actively plotted against more than 2 EVs per household. It's unfortunate that you pay a higher effective tax rate per mile but it is your choice to own 4 EVs...

$150 fee applies to many, many vehicles

The current EV tax is a band-aid - a placeholder while they figure it out. Though I suspect no one is actually working on it. The only fair way to uniformly tax all road users is by miles and weight/class of vehicle. That is very unlikely to happen anytime soon. However, I don't think it's...

Washington State Good To Go Pass - best installation location?

Interesting. I don't know if there is a different scanning process for the 520 bridge vs 405 HOV lanes. On 520 they read my rear plate since I don't have a front one and don't have an actual pass - just registered my plates with GTG. I think it strange (but not surprising) that they can do it...

    Supercharger - Superior, MT

I suspect it's about wealth, not electric vehicles. I've only had a couple of bad interactions in the 27 months I've had my MS but never at an SC. The worst was a woman at a concert parking area going on in a loud voice how "that car" is just unacceptable. Probably about wealth/equity or she...

I love the quote from the article "Rubstello said the glitch affects less than one percent of users ...". I don't think it's 1%. I bet its more like 10% or even higher based on the number of cars with metailzed windshields. BS minimization of a real problem by a BS bureaucrat. Good to Go -...

Relocating to Seattle - Charging options?

yes, you want dual chargers and the chademo adapter. I have a P85 and find both beneficial. There are 70 and 80 amp Level II (HAL2) chargers as well as chademos. The HAL2s are on the Cascade Loop (goes through Levenworth) and are free. There are lots of chademos scattered around the...

That is a well known problem of the latest version of Tesla Nav. I, too, used Kennewick last weekend and was heading to Seattle (with Seattle as the destination in Nav). It wanted us to go to Ritzville. My wife was driving and didn't remember the problem with nav. I caught it at the last...

Washington State Good To Go Pass - best installation location?

It used to be worse. They wouldn't tell you if you got a fine and then would levy late charges on the fines and then late charges on the late charges while you were completely clueless about the fine in the first place. I recall an article about some one who got a multi-hundred $$ fine over...

    Supercharger - Ellensburg, WA

I've been thinking about this cone thing and wondering why it is as effective as it seems to be. I think it's because, in general, there is a desire to just park the car and get out. Anything that makes the stalls look like more effort says move along. Having to stop in middle of the lot, get...

Washington State Good To Go Pass - best installation location?

It doesn't look like there is a license plate version of the flex pass. Kind of typical dysfunction for the GTG system. I didn't bother with the tag/pass, just registered my MS with GTG and they charge me the lower "tag" rate on the 520 bridge but then you will always get charged in the HOV lane.

    Supercharger - Sandy, OR

Sure, if you hang out in Sandy but downtown and Beaverton/Hillsboro are going to be a fair haul to get a charge - about 30 miles from sandy to downtown. There are lots of Chademos in Portland, I'd use those long before the Sandy SC. There is a bonus, though. The site isn't far from Boring.
