    wheel refurb company? [UK]

TBF, it's not just the Uberturbines... Whenever I see a Model 3 parked, I check to see if the alloys are as ruined as mine (Winchester's narrow streets have a lot to answer for). And many are, sadly... Buried in this forum are my own attempts to get some sort of alloy (and paintwork) cover. I'd...

Can you charge other EV using your portable Tesla UMC?

FWIW, I charged a (loaned) Mercedes EQA via a gen 2 Tesla granny charger over a period of months without any problems.

    Our Tesla Crash

Quick update. The car is (more than) fine, and we're glad to have it back. (I'm certainly pleased to have not encountered conzam's problems, as evidenced on the M3 been in bodyshop for 5+ months - both batteries dead thread.) The new Bristol Tesla Centre on Centaurus Road (guess who drive to...

    Our Tesla Crash

It certainly was. Eventually the body shop discovered how to recharge it (I told them there was the 3-pin stuff in the boot, but for a long time, this fell on deaf ears). It got scarily low at one point - <5% over Christmas, if memory serves.

    Our Tesla Crash

Picked up Tessie the Tesla on Monday (no pictures as, well, it's just a repaired Model 3 in white). I was almost emotional to see it - and not sorry to drop off the Mercedes EQA, though I've grown to appreciate its SUV-ness (and blindspot indicator, and working automatic headlights) at points...

    Our Tesla Crash

Quick update: the car is finally fixed and ready! The correct wiring loom was sent on the third time of asking and I'm hoping to travel from Somerset to the Midlands on Monday to pick it up and drop off the Mercedes hire car. It took a little over five months to fix in the end, and it was...

All good, thank you! Hoping to get back behind the wheel of the M3 (and contributing again to this forum) before hell freezes over. ;-)

    Our Tesla Crash

Good point. I was thinking of seeing if anything comes of some generic emails to Tesla (I know, I won't hold my breath) and then getting onto the insurance/lease company. As you say, it's costing them hugely, even if they are (presumably) going wallop the other driver's insurance company for the...

    Our Tesla Crash

More on the Merc a couple of posts back. I still stand by what I said, though now the boot has taken to opening by itself randomly when parked. Grrr. The (auto) headlights are superb, though!

    Our Tesla Crash

I've ducked out of the forum for a bit but thought I'd return with an update. Our M3 is still in the bodyshop in Rugby, and the fault is entirely Tesla's. Given that the crash occurred almost five months ago now, it's rather putting us off ever leasing another one (though, my goodness, you use...

    Our Tesla Crash

Quick update: I spoke to someone at the bodyshop today, having not heard anything from the insurance company (apparently he'd been sending regular updates to them on the assumption they'd be passed on). Though his first words were, "Tesla are an absolute nightmare! Their customer service is the...

    Our Tesla Crash

Two random things to add (EQA mini review to come!). Firstly, something I forgot to observe about (the aftermath of the) crash itself. Some daft petrolhead who passed by our stranded M3 - while the police officer was there! - found the time to slow, wind down his window and shout out "Ha ha...

    High pitched beep on unlocking

It's spreading (to other cars). The replacement Mercedes EQA we've got (while the M3 is being fixed) did this today...! Don't think there'll be a software update to sort it. 😉

    Our Tesla Crash

Here we go. I've blurred the other vehicle's numberplate. This is the front camera just before and after the crash. There's also footage of us approaching the red light and stopping - sadly the temporary lights aren't in shot for *this* sequence, so their status has to be inferred by our...

    Our Tesla Crash

I'll try to get one or two coherent thoughts down over the next few days. I've driven it now around town and to family c.100 miles away, so am learning more about what it does and doesn't do, etc.

    Our Tesla Crash

Thanks for the info! Hope you get everything sorted soon. :)

    Our Tesla Crash

Thank you. It is a terrible, terrible roundabout. And we were actually trying to do something quite simple on it...! I'm not in the right part of the world anyway, but I think I'll be giving that supercharger a miss in the future. ;) I wish we'd gone to Rugby instead...

    Our Tesla Crash

You're right about the dashcam footage (and the mental impact!). I feel almost vulnerable now driving around in the temporary Mercedes with its absolute lack of cameras and I'm not sure I'd consider anything in the future that didn't have a Tesla-like 'dashcam'. We were quite some distance...

    Our Tesla Crash

Interesting. I think, because of where we crashed, the traffic cop would have insisted that we got recovered to the compound first, but it's a good point. Thankfully it's all being dealt with by the lease company's insurance company, rather than our own insurance, though, as with your case...

    Our Tesla Crash

Thank you, As it's all being dealt with by the lease company and the lease company insurance company, we've had no contact with anyone since the car arrived at the bodyshop in Rugby (in fact, I only know it arrived because they kept setting the alarm off). I've also just turned off sentry as it...

    Our Tesla Crash

Thank you. :-) If everyone thinks it's OK/it doesn't break forum rules (I may have to obscure the numberplate of the BMW...?), I'm happy to post the main front camera video at some point over the next day or so.

    Our Tesla Crash

So. A fortnight ago our Tesla was involved in an RTA. Or, I like to think, had an RTA inflicted upon it. (There’s a more detailed description of what happened below.) My wife and I were returning from a festival and were hit by a BMW X3. We’re (physically) fine – our Model 3, not so much, but...

    Returning a Lease car

Don't have any answers but would be interested in hearing the thoughts of others and your own experiences - even though we're almost two years away from return. (We have no major damage but the alloys are absolutely bollocksed.) Good luck!

    20” Induction disaster

Apologies if it's buried somewhere up in the thread - I have looked, but might have missed it - but could you give a few more details on this cover...? Almost certainly too late for me - I've grazed all four alloys and, before someone comments sagely, yes, I do know the width of the car 😉 - and...

    20” Induction disaster

I'd love to hear how those of you with insurance get on. As you'll see from my post here - SMART (minor scratch and rents) Insurance - I bought insurance for £400 (three years) thinking it would cover the alloys and minor paint issues. When I finally got around to making a claim, I discovered...

SMART (minor scratch and rents) Insurance

Resurrecting an oldish thread just to update people on the scratch/dent insurance offered by Revive! In a nutshell, like most insurance policies, it's not worth the paper it's written on. First off, caveat emptor. The policy does not cover alloy scratches. That's entirely on me. Secondly...

What interior temp is your app reporting today?

I've taken to covering the glass roof with a thin cotton bedsheet (vent windows; carefully position the sheet and push the edges inside the car with plenty of slack; close windows again, which will hold the bedsheet in place). Doesn't seem to do the door frames or glass any harm but has a huge...

Wiki Restricted UK Supercharger sites - parking restrictions / registering / pay to park etc

It's a bit of a weird one, is Heathrow Hilton/terminal 5... The good lady doctor went there a few months back, had a drink in the bar, got the parking ticket validated for free (no mention of time limit) - and then the barrier lifted automatically anyway. I've just been there: bar seemed shut...

2 EV Household - what else you got?

Our other EV is a 1.5 gen UK-built Nissan Leaf, which we purchased outright at the end of the PCP a few years back (see signature). When we started leasing the M3 we gifted a 2005 C-class Merc to our daughters, who are going to drive it into the ground (hopefully not quite literally) before...

    High pitched beep on unlocking

Had this myself for the first time recently. The car unlocked and I immediately opened the door and the alarm went off very, very briefly (much less than a second). I was in more of a hurry than usual as had parked with the driver door on the road side and there was a car coming and I wanted to...

    Average Wh/mi since owning?

Snap! (Near as dammit.) 287 Wh/mi on a LR (12,200 miles since we got it in late June 21 - I've got a reasonably hefty commute two days a week). Also used to drive a BMW (and an old Porsche 944, come to that), but I'm a sensible middle-aged, non-hooligan now, honest, officer.

    [UK] 2022.8.x

Sadly 2022.8.3 didn't fix the boot double beep/stopping partway up problem (though perhaps it's made it less frequent). Our M3 updated a few days back and I finally got to try the boot a few times today. I guess I should log the issue in case the strut is genuinely is failing...?

    scratch repair

Company policy (some individuals working for the franchise may, but they're not supposed to) - I don't know if anyone's been told why, although they deny it's because Teslas are EVs. So I assume it's concerns regarding the (older) paint?

    Tyre pressures ?

The Tessie app - don't know about the others - recently added a feature where you can check the tyre pressures (specifically the last logged reading while driving) from the comfort of your home. Which was nice.

Soft Closing Trunk No Longer Soft

Others have said on this forum that while the double beep is generally a sign of the powered strut failing, it's been happening a lot since the 2022.8.2 update (the hope is that 8.3 fixes this; can't anyone confirm?). I've been getting double beeps a lot recently - probably over 75% of the time...

How do you listen to music in your Tesla?

As a 54-year-old bloke who writes about music and very occasionally DJs, I have to say that's a very reductive view of playlists. (I'm not getting into the argument about how Spotify plays albums.)

Random frunk/froot/bonnet opening = alarm going off = lessons learned

Mind you, warmer weather means even more flies on the windscreen... (Glad I'm not the only one that often tops up while supercharging. Shame I didn't earlier in the week or it might have saved me a bit of aggro down the line!)

Random frunk/froot/bonnet opening = alarm going off = lessons learned

I've done over 11,000 miles in under 9 months. Or maybe I'm just trigger-happy with the screenwash. ;)

Random frunk/froot/bonnet opening = alarm going off = lessons learned

That's where the screenwash will live from now on. (I often keep my (muddy) walking boots in the frunk but luckily they were indoors at the time of the, er, incident.)

Random frunk/froot/bonnet opening = alarm going off = lessons learned

Last night, we were just heading to bed when the M3's alarm went off suddenly. Glancing at the app, it was clear that the bonnet had popped open of its own volition, and obviously releasing that catch is enough to trigger the alarm. I went out, closed the bonnet, thought, 'That's odd, hope it...

    Highlight your charge cable

All credit to @Dasher above! I lack the lateral thinking to have solved the issue. ;) The 3M sticky pads lasted about 30 seconds in Storm Eunice but I'm sure would stick to the Model 3's paintwork perfectly. o_O🤪

    Highlight your charge cable

No California-bashing intended, and apologies for the missing ;) ;) ;) s. Some of my favourite human beings come from California. However the fact remains, as I said, that all Nissan Leafs (they reached the market, what, 18 months before the Model S?) have illuminated charge ports.
