MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-3-track-package You might want 19" wheels to shave some weight. And can someone enlighten my as to why anyone would want lug nut covers for track use?

Model 3 Performance Track Mode and damper settings for autocross

My car: 2022 M3P, with Front Upper Control Arms, Rear Camber Arms, and Sport coilovers (all Mountain Pass Performance). Camber is about -2.5 deg front, and -1.7 deg rear (compromise for street). 275/35/19 Rivals on 19x9.5 wheels, I did my first autocross with this setup yesterday. My times were...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Do you know that the haters' reasons for being against EVs is? 10-15 years from now autocross will be majority EVs, and there'll be good reason to be an ICE hater.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

I have the Rival 1.5's, and I do like them. I only did one autocross and one track day last year with them, so I don't have a ton of experience. Beware that they run wide though. I run 5mm spacers with 275/35/19 on Konig 19x9.5 +35 Ampliforms, and the tire still just grazes the uprights under load.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

I'll pile on to say that when I read post 1027 above I thought it was a rather hard sell, making broad, unsubstantiated claims, without supporting data, for a company that I think of as reputable. Wondering if UP might chime back in to this thread to comment?

New Owner greeting + Tire/wheel help (again, I'm sorry!)

Your cheapest option, initially, is likely new tires on the Uberturbines. But then when those get trashed from potholes (if Chicago roads are anything like Boston area roads), go and spend the $3k for 18" or 19" wheels and tires from T-Sportline. They will fit without any spacers, hub centering...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

I have 275/35/19 Rivals. Bought them late last season, as they were one of the only 200TW tires available at the time, and they were a real bargain from Tire Rack. I liked them in the one autocross and one track day I did. Beware though that they run very wide. In my size with 5mm spacers they...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

I did my first autocross in the Tesla this past weekend. Did pretty well considering it was my first and only autocross of this season, and I'm still on stock springs and shocks. I was definitely first in the class in my head: "Car that you drive to go skiing". The CSP Miata with Hoosiers and...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Hopefully closing out my story, and posting a followup. Mounted my 275/35/19 Rival with the 5mm spacer. Space to the knuckle looks like this: So hopefully with my belt and suspenders and suspenders I'm good now. Checked the number of rotations of lug nut engagement. Tire Rack says that I...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

How Crap. You're probably right. So it looks like the +25 offset Ampliforms would be a perfect fit for me, vs. the +35 that I'm working to make fit now. Seems odd based on past experience that everyone has posted on this forum. Can anyone explain this?

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

So, the plot thickens. Did my track day last weekend - very fun, all good. Then yesterday (4 days later) I lost traction control, ABS, cruise control, regen... So this happened: Installed new speed sensor, with belt and suspenders and suspenders: Added a 3mm spacer to the 5mm, to yield...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Thanks. Just FUCA with no shims to get to -3.0 deg. Putting the 8.mm shim back in gets me to -2.0 deg for street.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Just thought I'd follow up for anyone who is interested. Wheels and tires all mounted and good now. To recap, 19"x9.5"+35 Konig Ampliforms, with 275/35/19 BFG Rival S 1.5. Pictures of tire hitting knuckle: Now mounted with 5mm wheel spacers: End result. MPP FUCA with -3 deg camber in...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

3.0 degrees of camber on MPP FUCA, so I'm good there. Tires are touching the knuckle at rest, so I'm going with 5mm to make sure I don't hit under hard cornering.
  19. N

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Looks like +30 wheels would have been a better fit.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Followup post: Mounted my wheels and tires this past weekend. 19"x9.5"+35 wheels, 275/35/19 BF Goodrich Rival S 1.5. Everything I'd read said this should have been plug and play. Ends up the front tires hit the knuckle. Picture: 5mm spacers on the way.

Tesla Model 3 DM Performance - Autocross/Time Trial Build for USCA (Optima)

I installed my Schroth Quick-Fit Pro harness yesterday. Thanks so much for the detailed directions. Just thought I'd highlight a couple differences from the above instructions which I encountered: The rear seat cushion in my 2022 M3P does not have the rear clips. The rear of the seat bottom just...

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Posting this here, as some on this thread might have experience with this: I just put my track/autox tires in the car, to bring to a place to have them mounted. One of them rubbed up against the headliner when I was putting it in the car through one of the rear doors, and left black tire smudges...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Test fit my 19x9.5 +35 Konig Ampliform last night. I know that these should be plug and play with my new 275-35-19 Rivals, once I install my FUCAs and rear camber arms, but the wheel packaging said "Test fit before mounting tires", and I thought that's probably a good idea. Just thought I'd post...

Alignment shop in the Boston/Providence area

I will be installing my MPP FUCA and Rear Camber Arms soon, and am seeking a trustworthy alignment shop who is familiar with these cars, and can deal with a M3P with these suspension mods. The local shop that I usually go to tells me that he can't align any Teslas. His Hunter machine doesn't...

The quest for wider wheels and tires, 295, 305 and beyond...

Looks like I'm going to go with some 19x9.5 Konigs, as the cost won't be too high, so if I want to move to 19x10.5 in the future I won't have too much invested. I see offset options of 25 and 35. Which would be the safer way to go - 35?

The quest for wider wheels and tires, 295, 305 and beyond...

Thanks for the replies. @MasterC17 it's the "should" fit that worries me. I talked to someone at MPP and they said 10" should fit fine, but with 10.5" I might have to pull my fenders, which I really don't want to have to do. If Martian Wheels MW05's have nailed the dimensions so I'm good with...

The quest for wider wheels and tires, 295, 305 and beyond...

I just speed-read this thread...again. Looking for some advice from people with experience: Currently stock 2022 M3P. I have MPP FUCA and rear camber arms on order. Other than those, I will be all stock for now, until I eventually spring for MPP Sport Coilovers. Trying to decide on wheels and...

The quest for wider wheels and tires, 295, 305 and beyond...

@superflyrolla Thanks for the corrections. Updates made. Rev 03 attached. @dsgerbc I'm not familiar with the Nexen, so I didn't include them. Again, there's enough on the matrix to tell me I should go with 19" wheels.
  32. N

The quest for wider wheels and tires, 295, 305 and beyond...

I just calculated the outer diameter from the tire size. Those numbers are just on the spreadsheet to see theoretically how close to stock OD each size is. The real point of this matrix is tire availability by size.

@gearcruncher Right you are. Formula error when I re-sorted. This should be correct now.

The quest for wider wheels and tires, 295, 305 and beyond...

I've been trying to decide whether to go 18" or 19" for my track/autocross wheels and tires, so I generated the attached spreadsheet, based on data on TireRack.com. Definitely confirms for me that based on tire availability I'll be going with 19" wheels. Most likely 19"x10.5, 275-35-19.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

I'm surprised that 295 A7's would fit without any other mods, as I thought they run wide. Would that same 18” 10.5” +25 front w/295 fit in the rear, as I want to run square?

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

So generally what's the widest we can go (assuming stock suspension and camber, no body mods, and optimized offset) with 18" wheels, and with 19" wheels?
  37. N

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Can you elaborate on 19" offering the most knuckle clearance? Does that mean that I could fit a wider 19" tire than 18", or that I have a wider range of wheel offsets available for 19" than 18", or something else?

Got my 2022 M3P a couple of weeks ago (yay!), and planning for track and autocross. To start off, I plan to do the following: 1. Brake fluid, and zip tie speed sensors, of course 2. MPP FUCA 3. Dedicated track/autocross wheels and tires 4. Schroth Quick Fit Pro harness (so I can use my HANS on...
