Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Don’t patronize me about the difference between EV and ICE car. ICE car does not do the same thing under similar circumstances. The ICE car I had all these years(20+) never had to do any services specific to winter. Sometimes my car drove for less than 500km in a month in winter, nothing...

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Just wonder why those would be problem since ICE car never need such attention. The only difference I can see is the salt causing rust.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

If salt buildup and rusting are the main reason for the service, I think getting a car wash season ticket and wash the car thoroughly at least once a week should be enough to mitigate the concern and keep your car look good at the same time.

What is public perception of owning a Tesla after Musk's tweet?

Seriously if someone had any second thought on you simply because what Elon said and you own a Tesla, that guy shouldn’t be your friend at all.

Easiest way to black out Tesla emblem (front and back)?

There are people selling stickers online
  8. DavidJH

    Best to charge to 60%?

Absolutely. We are not slaves to our cars. In my case I never have to go out of my way to keep SOC low. It just suits my usage. If your situation requires you to charge full or use fast charge more frequently, no need to try too hard to avoid it to the point of making your life more miserable...
  9. DavidJH

    Best to charge to 60%?

On the contrary to your perception, maintaining low SOC is good for battery health is exactly defined by physics, whether you like it or not. The number is real, and whether the number is negligible is just another personal preference.
  10. DavidJH

    Best to charge to 60%?

Of course all batteries degrade over long term. The difference is how many percentage will be lost. Going up at any point is better than going down.
  11. DavidJH

    Best to charge to 60%?

I have been charging my battery to 50% -60% since I got my car and my battery capacity is actually increasing over time in TeslaFi report

Not Sure FSD Is A Good Value @ $15k. Ordered My Model Y In SEP2022 (Est. Del. Date DEC2022).

it’s worth it if you are willing to spend that kind of money and put your life and wealth on the line just to have a chance, not guaranteed, to be a beta tester for Elon.

    Park Seek Mode

It’s just amazing that even after so many times people praise how amazing it was after a new version of FSD came out, FSD is still so amazingly far from practical. It kind of tells you how an amazingly big gap there is between reality and promises. The more you say “this version has improved...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

It’s a ridiculous move as camera only solution would be useless in a lot of situations. What happen when there is snow? It’s white everywhere and how can any AI system tell what is what, let alone distance? It’s like trying to interact with this world with a single sense which makes absolutely...

Thinking about changing my Plaid X wheels from 20/45 to 19/55 (overlands from T sport line). How much more comfort will there be on broken pavement?

My Q7 weights around 4700 lbs, much higher than MSLR’s 4500 lbs. Suspension tuning is not as straightforward as you might think. Smaller wheel will definitely helps. Different tire will help as well. You should avoid sports oriented tire, go for the comfort/luxury type.

Thinking about changing my Plaid X wheels from 20/45 to 19/55 (overlands from T sport line). How much more comfort will there be on broken pavement?

I can feel you. My 2022 SLR has 19 inch wheel. I have an Audi Q7 with air suspension and 22 inch wheel. Still the Q7 drives so much smoother and much more comfortable. I guess you can be advanced in motor and battery technology but when it comes to tuning suspension the big old brothers still...

Left side of screen nearly useless?

Until FSD is fully functional and Elon is taking full responsibility for whatever decisions the car make, you should always keep your eyes on the road. How to delay delivery until 2023

You can tell them you are not ready to take delivery. The last time I did this my delivery was postponed for 3 months. Another thing to consider is interest rate. Who knows what sky high rate we would have in 2023. Do a calculation of how much more interest you have to pay if it rises another...

BBC Fake News - Tesla ordered to recall more than a million US cars

The fact is not all cars are capable of updating software by OTA. A recall is just a legal term that mandates a defect that must be fixed free of charge. So in the case there is a hardware problem when the manufacturers can send a technician to your home to do a “mobile service”, are you guys...

Rear motor problem on a brand new Model S

My less than one month old 2022 LR S had a oil leak and they had to replace the front drive unit oil pump and heat exchanger. Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

The one thing I don't like in the yoke is, with round steering wheel, after making a turn I can control how fast the steering wheel returns to its natural position depending on how strong I hold on to it. Now I have to move my hands to keep it in control and it's not as smooth.

    New (2022) model S - missing covers?

This is the most ridiculous 100K+ car you can buy with all the missing equipment etc. And they won't allow you to pay less until you receive those missing pieces. This will definitely be my last Tesla.

My delivery date was today but Tesla has no idea where my car is

In my opinion, it's most likely they found some issues with the car and couldn't fix it in time. Take a note of the VIN if it ever changes. They are supposed to check the car for defect first after arrival and before delivery. If it's delayed they shouldn't wait till last minute to notify you.

Wiki Mega-consolidated delivery quality issues thread and checklist

That's the thing. With the rate rising like crazy I don't know if I should take the loss now, or reject the VIN and wait for next one with higher rate which most likely cost me a few thousand dollars more interest anyway.
